The cord winder company in PA also made--

--other products(not for Elux)using the same round housing and mechanism. One was a retractable clothes line(not electric) that could be pulled across a basement or outdoors on laundry day and rewound after clothes dried. Also an extension cord with the main cord pulled out as on Elux and a female outlet on the round housing.Good quality products.

Small cord.

Hi Andy:

If you go to the back of the winder the cord attached to the small round thing in picture 1 of reply 20 is what powers up the Electrolux.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Andy,

Thanks for looking into the cord winder and supplying the pictures. I found another cord winder on Ebay and it is for the LX, so it won't with the xxx. I probably can just change the plug to fit the xxx if I can't change the whole cord. We shall see...I get it on Tuesday.

Worked out ok with Model xxx

Hi Andy,

The changing of the small cord from the cord winder to the canister was a success. All I had to do was remove the small cap with the nut on top and it exposed the wires. See the picture.

Did you remove this cap when you took apart yours? Alex was correct about removing to expose the wires.

I tested it and the machine ran normal. Instead of using this one on the LX, I used it for the xxx. Another cord winder is coming Tuesday for the LX which has the correct plug. So I am good to go with both machines. To be on the safe side, since I cut the original cord, I ordered another Model xxx power cord in case this cord winder breaks or is stolen...lol

Thanks!

Andy,

Thanks for helping out by taking your cord winder apart. At least we learned something about the cord winders.

BTW, do you have any Kenmore canister machines? We had one and I have some bags for it and they are no use to me, so if you want them, send me an email where I can send them. The bag package has a lot of model numbers on it. You can have them. I don't want anything for them.

Hi Steve! yes, i have 2 kenmore Canister vacuums. I just sent you an email on it. Here is my grandmother's old kenmore 3.9 and my Mother's old Kenmore progressive. Thanks on the bags, and it was no trouble with the cordwinders

oh wow

We had the canister vacuum in your first picture. I believe we had 2 of them and somehow they disappeared between moving. I know one of them, the hose went bad. I think our cleaning lady broke them and we threw them away like idiots. I will put the bags in the mail to you.

Steve

2 cords in an Elextrolux cordwinder.

Hi Lovelux:

When the model LX first came out it had the same cordwinder as the model XXX, (chrome) and simply replaced the small cord to the machine. Then a year or so later they went with the hammertone blue, and of course changed the side nameplates as well. As to the small cord, I knew this because I did the same thing when I snapped off the Belden plug on the original winder. Till now nobody was the wiser.

As for Nathan, I know him well and he's a great guy, good luck i&#92on getting the correct crevice tool.
