I did replace the brushroll to the Activator as it's original one had shot brushroll bearings and the bristles were a bit worn too. As you can see this Activator has static edge cleaning brushes unlike the original brushroll that had revolving edge cleaning brushes.

And...

This was the original brushroll, the very early Purepowers must of not had Activator brushrolls.

What happened to the bag full light? I seem to remember that this didn't work on testing?

Are we going to get a video on it? - still waiting for the dual purpose commercial vac video, come on lad, you are slacking - slapped wrist lol

The bag light still doesn't work, I couldn't fix it, I think the bulb has burnt out. I have both videos of the Purepower and Dual Purpose, it will be uploaded tomorrow.

The bulbs in the bag full lights are LED's and they last 1000's of hours - there must be a fault in the bag light circuit - have you tested the bag light sensor for continuity when a vacuum is applied to it? Have you checked the continuity of the wiring loom? have you checked the circuit board for dry solder joints? Alex - I am very surprised that you couldn't fix it - knowing how thorough you normally are with your Hoovers. Have you got a multi-meter to check the continuity of the circuit?

Alex, Your videos may be long but they don't really seem that long when watching. I always enjoy how explanative you are, plus it's neat for me to see some of the innards of vacuums from other countries, plus how they work, etc.

I really enjoy your videos too Alex, they're always very detailed and fun to watch.

Sorry

Alex I should have told you about this before, that the lamp needed a few moments of a blockage to activate and then flashes, and -as you now know- does not extinguish until the cleaner has been switched off.

Of the top-range Turbopower3, there were two identical cleaners; 2880 and 2881. The latter worked in the same way as your Purepower, requiring manual override of the autosense each time the cleaner was switched on. The bag full lamp worked just like the Purepower too.

The majority of the 2880 machines had a locking override facility, though I found at least one which was identical to the 2881. However, of those with locking override, I cannot remember for the life of me if the bag full lamp was as your Purepower is. I am inclined to think not.

Benny...

I noticed it the other day when the hose end got caught on a plastic carrier bag I went to release the bag from the ose and the light began to flash and I was a little excited, I was like oooo it works!!
I was also pretty impressed that the Purepowers Autosense defaults back to Autosense upon turn on after being overriden to boost the last time it was turned off...Very high tech for the 90's!!

Default

Hello Alex. The fact that it does this may seem quirky, but I can assure you that in regular use, it's rather annoying! As you know, there is a delay from switch-on to power-up, and then the user has to select the boost button for full power. It was a bit of a chore to say the least.
