Not rare but a damn good vacuum. I have one in pieces from another collector here.
The Preferred collection was the highest trim level. Other than appearance, I do not think it changed much of anything about the vacuum from the base models. I only have the one, so I do not know about others from the same time frame on their motor specifics.

I got this for $15 and spare bags with it. Nothing at all is wrong with it.

Jhas the top fill bag which means better filtration. The height adjustment is better than the nob. It has a 6 amp motor which is about perfect without being too loud. The only thing I don't like is the black belt cover. It does seal better than a belt cap.
I have one but I chipped the bottom of my armature and I need to put new one in.
If you get steel wool and take some oxidation off. You could then polish and it would look really nice.

One of the few regrets I have about not buying a particular machine was when I saw one of these at Goodwill a few years ago for $19. It was in beautiful condition, but there was a Kirby G5 next to it in comparable shape for the same price and I couldn't decide between them, nor could I justify buying both, so in the end, I left them both. Not surprisingly, both were gone when I went back the next day. But that's okay; I've got too many vacuums anyway.
