My mom had a black one that we would have bought around 2000 or 2001. Does anybody have any that you could post some pictures of? I like them a lot. I remember going to Walmart as a kid and I saw some Bissell Uprights that looked EXACTLY like Hoover Elites. I think. I remember my neighbor had a green one to. Thanks,
Chase

sorry but

I have three rebranded bissells rebrended as singers but I cant reeally post pics with my camera but if you want to see a picture go to ebay and type in singer vacuum and there is one there but I will try to post pics

Yep

Those Bissell's are rebadged Singers. Made by Royobi. They are similar to the Elite as they were in some models a cheaper cmpetetor to the Elite. They also were badged as Kenmore's. I did have one but I gave it to my aunt in 95 and its long gone. The fan case craked wich was common with those.

For some reason the Singers were more popular than the Bissell versions. I've never liked those for some reason, but I did like the original Bissell Prolite which was soft bodied. I am sad that they've reused the name on their Bosch/Dirt Devil/Seimens clone much like Dirt Devil did with the Broom Vac.

Grandma bought one of those uprights in 1995 at the K-Mart for I believe $59.95, it is the Singer version. Its not a bad cleaner, she is very ginger with her stuff so its still in good shape

I actually have one of the green Singer Poweramps. It grooms the carpets very nicely, just a little loud. It is very similar to the black one my mom had.

i remember the bissell version, it had a very aggressive brushroll, like 4 rows looked like a kirby floor polishing brush roll. only reason it looked like a hoover cus of the bag on the front.

the singer ones had hard bodies and were in pretty colors, but quality was LOW end

I remember seeing those direct air Bissells at our Walmart when I was in my early teens. I can't remember the exact color (all though I'm thinking they were blue maybe??). I do remember that they had a decent wooden brush roll and a tool set with a hose that could plug in on the side of the hood. Does Bissell or any of the other more commonly seen brands at department stores make direct air vacuums any more?

Clayton, that is one of the earlier ones I think. I found one of those same ones that I found in the garbage. It has a metal handle right?

I had that exact same one clayton, however it had a horrible Demise... nice cleaner and pretty powerful this machine would clean and groom the floors nicely

the demise was the fan shattering into several pieces and then shattered the housing on the machine in the process, all I can say is that it was not pretty and extremely LOUD!!! it was old though and had a rough life with the original owner using it in an unfinished basement
