1988 Electrolux z2010 - How to remove/bypass suppressor?

I’ve recently picked up this 1988 Electrolux Z2010 however, I’ve found the suppressor has blown (a first for me and thankfully I wasn’t the one to experience it blowing up )
How does one remove/bypass this style of suppressor? I’ve removed/bypassed hoover junior ones before but never ones on the motor or of this style so am clueless.


Also aside from this, is it actually possible to remove the fan case and "re-crimp" it? I suspect the bearings could do with replacing but can't see a way to do this (apart from the top one)

Congratulations on acquiring your Electrolux Z2010. I have no experience with removing a suppressor or removing a fan case and recrimping it, but check out the linked video posted by Beko1987 showing his similar work on a Dolphin. Hopefully, it will be of use to you:

If you put it in the garage or outside and run it for 10-20minutes the smell and smoke will go away. Thatstyle of motor and suppressor keep ging when it pops, the smell stays though until yourun it to air the smell out.

Interesting thank you, I didn’t know that. Looks like I’ll have to fault find some more as it didn’t power on at all. I can’t lie it did stink a lot when I was taking the motor out not a smell I’m going to forget anytime soon

That smell was present on my D720 and Z65 when I got them. Running helped them. If it didn't turn on you have a different problem though.

What are those suppressors even for? To prevent the vacuum from fuzzing the television or causing static on a radio? It is not something one ever sees on US model vacuums.
