Unfortunately, this seller doesn't know it was Royal and not Kirby who made this machine. This descendant of the model 888/980 was made in 1986, and would thus have a 5.4 amp motor.

It even comes with the special small bag for portable cleaner setup.

I thought all electro hygiene vacuums had red trim as both my grandmothers did. I know they had different colour bags because her first one was white but didn't say supreme until her second one with the red bag which I was able to get before she passed.

Mark,

The red-trimmed Electro-Hygienes, called "Supreme Electro-Hygiene" as per the front of the bag, were models 903 (non-removable head) and 980 (removable head), but there were two lower-rung models that did have the gray trim: models 777 (twin to Royal's 602) and 285 (801).

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the info, I remember my grandmother having a Kirby which had the grey trim. Both her Electro's did not have the removable head but I remember one was a 3.5 motor and the other was a 4.0, one had small wheels in the back while her second one had the wide ones like on the royals today, no step height adjust. the front caps were different. Those were the only 3 machines she had I remember as a kid growing up into adulthood. They are great vacuums & to think that 3.5 -4.0amp motors were on vacuums years ago that are still out performing the ones today!! Funny how I knew what kind of vacuum everyone used instead of who the people were..but back then if this is true or not you could tell about someone what kind of appliances they had not by the cars in the carport or driveways which I don't think youth of today will understand. Mark D.

Correction.. I think the motor on her first one was a 3amp & I think it had more suction from the hose then the 4amp motor did. I know one of them was louder with the hose attached. Mark D.
