I was luck to find a copy of a couple of old Hoover Australia brochure's I had when I was a kid...

The 1970 Australian lineup...

Here's the second one with almost all of the 1970 range...

More than half the models where made in OZ with the
Dustette, 417 Cylinder, Harlequin, Hooverette and 912 Heavy Duty imported from Hoover UK.

Interesting that they call the Junior the "Lark", cos the Lark was a completely separate model to the Junior...

Hey David,

The junior name was dropped here in OZ after the 1334 in rose and ivory for the Lark name which carried on being used up to the 90's on the last Turbopower Lark.

And is now being used again on a crap TTI bagless upright.

As a kid, I remember seeing a 110-volt Hoover cylinder sold in Canada just like the one picture in the brochure! It must have been in the early 1970's. It might even have been a vac imported from the UK especially for sale over here.

What was cool about it was that it was sold with a really neat tool carrier made out of metal wire - kind of like a metal cage with spaces to store everything inluding the hose and wands. My memory may be foggy, but I think that the holder even had a place to store the vac unit itself. The tool carrier could be mounted on a wall, or could sit on the floor by itself.

Think Hoover US also used the Lark name on a stick vac also.

Yes - the "Hooverette" was also sold in Canada as the "Lark."

The "Convertible" name was used both here (the U.S.) and Australia, whereas in the U.K. (where they call the "Convertible" the "Senior"), the name was used on the upright we call the "Dial-A-Matic" and where you live (Australia) as the "Dynamatic."
