Thanks for the info on the Economy Model upright. I too, am partial to cloth bags on a vintage vac. I'm surprised Birtman Electric was still producing vacuums as late as 1960. Birtman Electric produced the first Kenmore vacuum (the Energex) around 1920. Charlie Lester has one. While it will never have the desirability of the Kenmore "Bugeye" Imperial, I'd sure love to have an economy model for my collection.

Fred...

Did you have the Kenmore Saturn when I stayed with you? Was it in my room--the canister room? How on earth did I miss it? I must have been too overwhelmed at the time. She sure appears to be in MINT condition. Lucky you. You do have the best karma when it comes to finding vintage vacuums in NIB and MINT condition. We need to plan a shopping excursion.

Ooooooooh!

I once owned the Lady Kenmore in the last pic that Greg scanned. It is now with a friend of mine. I remember where i bought it from too. It was at a thrift store in the high desert that had a big patio in the back and there she sat. It didn't have a price on it and i asked how nuch? The guy didn't want to sell it because he hadn't "gone through it". I said fine where's a plug? And that man gave me such a hard time. Finally i just got frank with him and said "Look i just would like to buy it now before it gets ruined out here in the sun or worse, gets rained on now here's 20 bucks for Pete's sake!!"
So he let me have it for $20 !!! It didn't have the nice hose and PN , just a regular hose and i found a Carpet nozzle for it sometime later.
