1940s Royal Motor Diagram

I decided that I am going to restore my Packard model 1941 myself and I need a diagram of the motor. I also need a little advice on oiling brass-sleeve bearings and cleaning armatures. I am not a new member, I just had to create a new account because I lost the credentials to my old one.

But I can help you with the oiling procedure. You should have two oil ports, one in front just behind the fan case and one in the back. They will either have a plastic or metal cap on them, and the metal cap will be threaded and have a slot for a screwdriver. Remove these caps and put 6 drops of oil in each port once a year. The oil I recommend is 3-In-1 ELECTRIC MOTOR OIL, which is a special oil that 3-in-1 makes specifically for electric motors. It is in a red, white, and blue bottle. DO NOT USE regular 3-in-1 oil, as it is too thin. The special electric motor oil might be hard to find, although Lowe's had plenty the last time I needed it. If you can't find it, use your favorite brand of SAE 30 automotive motor oil. Hope this helps,

I don't wanna be that guy, but it's a switch and a motor. Nothing else. I understand that not everyone is going to understand it.

Line from the cord goes into the switch. Out of the switch goes to one wire on the motor. The other wire goes to Neutral on the cord. That's it.

Jeff,

I know how most vintage Royal metal upright owners feel about this, that they want to find the right binder service manual with the specific models included. I am trying to do so myself in the case of my 1985 Royal 880 and 1987 Royal 662 and 786.

Bikerray, the vacuum I have is a Packard but it is a model 1941. Hygiene903, thank you for the oiling tips as they will come in handy. MadMan, yes I know that it is just a switch and a motor but not every motor is built the same. KirbyClassicIII, thank you for the videos as they will also come in handy when disassembling the motor.
