I could be wrong but I believe the Heritage II was released in late 1984, not 1985. The Generation 3 was released in 1990, not 1991.

I think the 4C had a brief production run in 1941 only. I think I may have one of the few that was made with a closed top bag too.  In fact, this bag even has a felt lining.  I think it was Kirby's attempt at improving filtration.

The D80 was discontinued in mid 1969, and the Classic 1-CR was introduced late mid-late 1969.

sonnyndad: I've heard that the Kirby Classic may have been released in December of '69, but not earlier than that. Do you have a source that proves otherwise?

It may well be that the Dual Sanitronic 80 and Classic 1CR were both available for a period of time. The Dual Sanitronic 80 was a crossover machine, and the Classic was totally new. Whenever a completely new model Kirby is introduced (as was the case when the Generation 3 was released) there usually is an overlap. It's not unimportant to note that on the G3, it only says "by Kirby" in small print on the bottom of the handle. I guess they too were uncertain how the public would react to the new model.

The reason the Kirby Classic 1CR has the 1969 date on its nameplate (although in the owner's manual it clearly has a copyright date of 1970 and a print date of 1/70) is because it was ready for sale around January 1, 1970.

Being an Electrolux user for many yrs, my Grandma bought a brand new Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50 from a salesman back in 1965.
She always said she bought it just to get rid of the pushy salesman, because she HATED that machine thru and thru. After all the drama settled, she said she NEVER wanted the name KIRBY mentioned in her house again EVER!

And, i can see why.
For some unknown reason, the belt lifter on that DS50 was sharp,,enough to CUT the belt OFF each time you swung it around,so therefore you could not use the hose or attachments at all,,unless you had a new belt to put on each time.
Well, they lived in a very rural area,,WHERE are you going to buy a belt for a Kirby way out there? And, the Kirby salesman just SOLD Kirbys,,,they didnt maintain. She never saw that salesman again,,and the only other time a Kirby man came to the door, she told him to GET LOST!!

Grandma always said that Kirby was too heavy for her to use anyway, so it got relegated to the garage to use there, and cleaning out the car,,,ect, with the hose permanently attached.
Thats when the Electrolux salesman showed her a brand new Electrolux 1975 Golden Jubilee!,,,which i have in my collection now.
I did have the old DS 50, but gave it to a friend yrs ago.
WHAT was i thinking!!!?? AArrgghh.
