$175 New Oreck: A Good Deal?

Oreck sent me a brochure this week and I noticed Oreck finally realized that I don't want a canister! So they are now selling an upright-only deal for $199. I called my Oreck store and asked if they did trade-ins, and they'll give me a $25 credit on that $199 model.

So, for $175 I get a three-year warranty and one free tune-up. What do you guys think? Should I go for it? Also, do Orecks do well on med-plush carpets?

That's not a bad deal. We're not doing any trade-ins at any of our local seven stores here in St. Louis. If you want brand new, I'd say go for it, and yes it performs fine on just about any carpet except some friese carpet, kind of a mini-shag. If you can settle for pre-owned, I say buy one off Ebay. You can get a late model lately for under 100.00, just be sure to check out the sellers pictures real good, and ask questions, like, "does it have any strange smells", etc. Hope this helps!
