Some of you may know this, but there is a way to interchange part numbers between the Kenmore 116 vacs & the Panasonic. The Kenmore vacs with a prefix of 116 are made by Panasonic.

Kenmore Panasonic parts have a prefix of K, and Panasonic - A, do some research, and you will find you have more options to get parts. Also, try dropping the prefix when looking.

Example: Kenmore motor KC92FDJHZ000 is the same as a Panasonic AC92FDJHZ000, and the motor may be marked C92FDJHZ000

interchanging Panasonic and Kenmore parts

I actually have a Panasonic Mc-cg902, which is a very good canister for the price. It came with a paper bag, but I was told by a member here to get some of the Kenmore q bags, they are cloth instead of paper and would work better. Sure enough, they do and they fit that vacuum perfectly. Not sure if the Q bags are used in any current models or if they just sell them for older models now, but they are good bags if your vacuum can use them.

I have (had) two Kenmore 116 models, a Progressive and and Intuition.

Both are one of the poorest designed vacuums I have seen, and the Centec derived power nozzles are the worst.

The front axles on the power nozzle always pop off, since it is just a rod bent into a "C" with small wheels on it, and a small plastic "lifter" to raise and lower it. Both of the ones I received had them duct taped down.

A power nozzle should be sturdy and these are not. You do not see many plastic pieces for the 116 Kenmore's on ebay for a reason, they break too readily. I received both of them free, since the owners were frustrated with them. (Broken parts & pieces)

Re 116 prefix..

The prefix 116 indicated Birtman Electric Company until 1957 when Whirlpool took over Birtman,It was Whirlpool for many years, Panasonic came much later.
