Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

One thing that is a head scratcher for me is that the on-off switch has three wires going to it. Hot from the cord winder to the switch, but two from the switch to where? Or is it switching ground? There aren't that many wires that reach that far back in the vacuum. The two motor leads, the...

AB Electrolux, Lux & Related Company D/AP/S Series Info. 1978-2025

Interesting that Sauber sold a version of the Intelligence with blue anodized skin like the D920 had. I have never seen that flavor. Also interesting that the chart shows the AC-11 Intelligence Classic having stainless steel skins. The France Purification shows it with blue skins.

    Singer Lazer Storm

That's not the same vacuum as the Oreck Big Foot upright. Scroll forward to 7:45 in the video That Big Foot power nozzle dates back to the 1960s and was used with an early shop vac but the upper half is apparently a Bissell product

Kleenmaid VC350 Airbelt (Sebo K3) for sale Adelaide South Aust.

Sebo makes a high quality product. Their parts support in the US is superb. I have a C3.1 and it is one of my best canister vacuums. There is a revised C/K hose that is longer and has an on-off switch for the power nozzle. It also integrates the electrical connection to the wand into the...

    Are Oreck Vacuums any good?

David Oreck was pitching them to older people and house cleaners or hotel staff who needed a light vacuum.

Very different from the D720-D745 that came right after these. That is a beautiful restoration btw. I was magnifying the images and enjoying your work.

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

I know. I have a spare bag chamber and a couple of spare lower bodies for my home-made Intelligence because those are the fragile parts, and I am very gentle with it. The D820 is entirely different and exceptional in every way. What is this Clean800? All I could find was this huge...

Interesting bag door. Never saw that before. Always something new to learn here.

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

The Swiss investors sold their interest in Lux International way back in 2011. They formed a joint venture with Eureka-Forbes of India in 2009 that lasted through around 2011, after which Eureka-Forbes bought out the remaining shares owned by the Swiss. Lux International in the EU has been a...

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

There is a lot of speculation whether the Intelligence is still being produced or not. While the old Lux International website no longer shows it, the website of a new company spun off from Lux International in Germany, Poland, Hungary and a couple of other European nations called Allclean...

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

Looking at your Instagram feed at the Electrolux Excellio. Those came to us briefly as a Eureka Europa. Finding a nice one of those is right near the top of my Holy Grail list. Really beautiful equipment.

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

They are both beauties. My second D820 is that same color. I also have an Aerus Guardian Platinum that I converted into a 120 volt Lux Intelligence Classic. I bought the blue skins for one from France Purification, an Intelligence Premium woven cloth covered hose, replaced the Bluetooth...

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

I heard Jimmy Martin, aka "Rugsucker", mention that Electrolux vacuums were in Sears stored in the US for maybe six months but it didn't work out. Jimmy, want to chime in?

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

I have another one that is kind of a dark charcoal so maybe that is what you call blue. Both came from Japan. The silver one I showed above had a lot of little dents so I eventually bought a new outer skin for it, sadly loosing the Swedish flag decal in the process. The charcoal ( or blue ? )...

    What are Oreck doing?

I have 1960s Oreck literature I was given years ago by a guy at the Henry Company in Hammond Indiana when they were cleaning out their vintage stuff that says "Whirlpool Floor Care" in the fine print at the bottom. Confusing. The early history of Oreck is hard, at least for my feeble little...

    What are Oreck doing?

What about the Big Foot clean air upright and the XL3500 Celoc canster? Those were Oreck originals made by Oreck to the best of my knowledge. They also sold a big industrial wet dry vac that used the Big Foot as a power nozzle.
