Hi All, I am looking for an extra nice Hoover 5450 polisher. Grandmother had one so kinda sentimental. I don’t mind paying well for a really nice example. Can anyone help me out? Thanks. Brian

    What are Hoover “Promotional Models”?

Hello. I have a couple Hoover convertibles that are apparently classified as “promotional models”. From what I understand, promotional models were lower end, budget priced alternatives. One of my two has a slightly shorter cord but the other one has every option that a fully loaded deluxe...

    Hoover Model 714 Question

Thanks Everyone Looks like the 714 is a standard convertible with the same quality and basically the same features as any other convertible. Thanks everyone for your help.

    Hoover Model 714 Question

Thank you. I was not aware that the 714 had any particular rarity. As to Wichita I go that direction with work but it is still out of the way to some degree. This machine seems to have every option that a deluxe model has. Full bumper, headlight, zipper bag, handle grip. Only thing it might...

    Hoover Model 714 Question

Hello, I am not an expert on vacuum cleaners and am hoping someone can assist me. I collect pretty much anything vintage and I found a nearly mint, all original Hoover Convertible model 714 in “sunset orange”. I am driving a pretty fair distance to get it so I’m trying to educate myself a...

Greetings All from a First Time Poster

Ahh yes, the "good 'ol days"... The good 'ol days of two outlets in a room (each having two or three cube taps with cords radiating out in all directions), ground prong adapters and gas lighting. How did our Grandparents ever manage to keep from blowing themselves up...

    Early Hoover Convertible Wanted

Very Nice 66 Hi, I saw your 66 on ebay... very, very nice machine!! Hoovers are moderately common in our area and also in my home state of Iowa (born and raised in Des Moines). Iowa tends to flip-flop between Hoover and Eureka and Arkansas seems to be mainly Hoover and Electrolux. As to...

    Early Hoover Convertible Wanted

Greetings All, Does anyone have a nice, clean and all original early convertible that they'd be willing to part with? I'd sure love to find one of the headlight models but I like the convertibles in general (I have a clean 33 as a starting point). Maybe someone has a duplicate? Thanks...

    Eureka Upright Wanted... PLEASE!!

I saw that one... It's being sold through a shop with 100% feedback and has supposedly been gone through... I'm hoping for one just a little nicer but what do you think a good offer would be on that machine??

    Eureka Upright Wanted... PLEASE!!

HELP! How does this brush roll come apart?

OK I got the clip off the one end. I still can't get the cap off that side, (the side that has the raised end which slides into the groove on the base). Does that just unscrew? It looks like the center portion should unscrew from the shaft but it's not wanting to do it.

HELP! How does this brush roll come apart?

Hello All, I've got a Hoover 33 and I'm trying to lubricate the brush roll. I was able to remove the end cap on one side by unscrewing it and I do see where I can pack some grease in there but the other side has this funky little clip that doesn't seem to want to come off. How do I get the...

Greetings All from a First Time Poster

Hi Jeff!! Thanks for the welcome. That's a great looking 300 you've got there!! It seems rather hard to find all original examples of these old machines. I've been out running around all day and I did run across a nice original 33 in that funky lavender color. I cleaned it up, it looked...

Greetings All from a First Time Poster

Thank you Bill for the help on the cord. Sounds like a fairly easy fix if I can just find a cord that will look right on there. Radios? I collect ANYTHING. My Grandfather had a TV Repair Shop in downtown West Des Moines for almost 40 years. When I was a kid I'd follow him around during the...

Greetings All from a First Time Poster

Hi Bill!! Thanks for the pointers. This machine seems to have been very well serviced over the years... I found an old maintenance sticker on it and at least one more underneath that one (definitely a good sign). The brush roll looks surprisingly good and it spins smoothly and freely. I...
