Do not know if it is true but... I heard Sears allows C.R. to use their facilities for testing and that is why you see Kenmore Appliances so highly rated.  Do not know if it is true or not - just saying that is what I heard.

Agree with Tom I am leaning toward stolen.  Why would the SN be missing.  My guess is they tried to pawn it and without the SN the pawn shop said no.     I would check into it.  I had a friend who was given a Gateway Computer many years ago.  She had problems with it and called Gateway tech...
