    1911 Central vacuum system help

This may have some helpful imagery Here is a film from 1915 called the Home Electrical on a 1980 reprint. It shows both an inlet and a key operated switch. I take it they weren't always push button switches.

    Electrolux D730 - blown suppressor?

Supressors are needed in Europe for a few reasons. Suppressors were also important in some European TV systems as they were not as resistant to interference. The UK 405 line, French 819 Line, as well as the 625 line systems used early in Belgium and the SECAM-L system used in France used AM...

    Sebo Felix questions

The modification you are looking for is to remove the front brush strip. I'm not sure of the details Vacuumdevil has done it on his channel on one of his Sebo reviews.

    Kenmore throw away bags

Just changed the bag today I just changed the bag about 15 minutes ago. The bags were are using are the DVC "Micro Lined" yellow bags. For some reason I'm thinking they are a better quality than the old 5055 type.

    Problem with the bagless vacuums

Crazy Neglect That kind of neglect is crazy! I've treated a cheap Durabrand Canister better than what you are describing here. It was a bad electrical connection on the inside that caused me to scrap it due to not having the correct screwdriver at the time.

    Oreck with built in radio.

Dirt Cheap FM Radios Dirt Cheap FM radios were a thing back then. Without further details this is an educated suspicion on what it is.   The radio was likely a simple radio that ran off of two AAA batteries and was operated independently of the machine, but built into the handle. The...

    Kenmore throw away bags

Only Ever ran one Cloth Bag My mom's machine only ever ran one cloth bag (back then it 50557 not 50558 like the Q is now) and that was the one that came with the machine. I know that the cloth bags filter better, but I've personally never owned a machine designed for cloth HEPA bags.

I saw this new in box coffee can Hoover on eBay!

Pulled Item was removed by the seller due to an error in the listing is what eBay is saying.

    Sanitaire

They even copied Sebo We have one of their Sebo clones called the EON Quietclean at work. For commercial use it is a fine machine (if our cleaning staff will remember to wash the Exhaust filter). The problem is, while it is a very good copy, there are some sub par things with it. The bare floor...

    I need advice...

Too Loud for Europe Yeah, Orecks are loud, in fact, they are too loud under EU regulations. In addition to limiting power consumption to 900 watts (which Oreck can meet with no difficulty), they limit the noise to 80 dB (not sure of the weighting). I know from some YouTube vids that the...

    Electrolux indicators

Overdrive Overdriving the neon is fine for something like a bag check or no bag indicator as over the life of the machine the lamp will likely see less than an hour of operation unless it is a demo model and the lamp is being demonstrated constantly. It would also be okay for an overheat...

    Kenmore throw away bags

DVC DVC Bags are made in the US. The ones I have at home are US made, but I can't be 100% certain if they are DVC.  I read that DVC also makes OEM bags for Aerus (formerly known as Electrolux).

    Kenmore throw away bags

Generics We run the Generics you find on eBay. I can't tell you whether they are the Envirocare technologies or the DVC brand. These are multi-layer paper bags. Biggest thing to watch for is sometimes the inlet will have a perforated seal. This seal needs to be punched out after you install the...

Why I think canisters aren't popular in United States anymore

Pardon the earlier deleted post, I went off on a tangent. Marketing is the issue. Most if not all vacuums in big box stores are uprights. If power team canisters would be marketed as hard as uprights are, you may be seeing more of them. Additionally, if people knew how well they could clean...

Why I think canisters aren't popular in United States anymore

I think the issue is with shopping trends I'm a millennial, far from typical though, but here's where I see the problems lie. The quality and premium machines such as Aerus, Kirby, and Rainbow are not selling where people are buying. Sebo, Miele, and even to a very limited extent Filter Queen...
