How does one retrofit disposable bags into pre-Tradition Kirbys?

I totally agree about not liking the shake out bags… That’s one of the main reasons why I hate bagless vacuums; they are a gross mess to empty. I ran into this issue on my Classic III. I wound up buying used on Ebay a “genuine aftermarket” bag made by the Scott Fetzer Co. that takes Eureka...

    EPIC yard sale find!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Eurekaprince… Thanks for the info! I always enjoy videos from vacuumdevil’s channel. In fact, it was his channel that convinced me to get a sebo G4 and a Numatic Henry for the collection. Human… I totally agree, they were nicely coordinated. The house...

    EPIC yard sale find!

Hey everyone! Hope you are all well. I was out with a friend today thrifting, and found these machines at a yard sale for $3 each. So of course, I had to have them. The Eureka 1447 is from 1989, and the Hoover U-4387 is from sometime prior to 1987. Both are in fantastic condition overall...

Happy Friday — Which of your machines have you enjoyed running today?

Over the last week or so, I’ve used... The Electrolux 1205 on the hardwood, the Dirt Devil 103 on the stairs, and the Eureka 2070-D and Eureka Victory 4460 on the carpet. Thatwasherguy.

The Vac shop clean out begins

Eureka Rugulator belt issue. I'm new to owning a vintage vacuum

Congrats on your find!! Looks very similar to the 1971 model I scored a couple of days ago, except yours is a higher end model, with the box top bag. As far as the belt is concerned, you could also use a hoover convertible belt. That's what I used on mine, and it seems to work fine. Hope this...

The Vac shop clean out begins

I'd like to officially throw my hat into the ring... And create a list as well. I apologize in advance, as it's pretty long. Here goes: Eureka 2070-D attachments, hose, and owner's manual Eureka 613-A attachments, wands, and owner's manual Electrolux 1401 super J floor head, dusting...

    Goodwill totally delivered today...

I don’t think so... The brushes are on metal inserts, which leads me to believe they are original. Even the belt looked original. I’m thinking this was a very low mileage machine. Just got done cleaning it, and tested it on my carpet. I’ll tell you what, that little 3.5 amp “blender motor”...

    Goodwill totally delivered today...

Thanks for the info everyone!! I found the date, and it reads 11-1-71. I’ve also included a close up of the brush roller. Hopefully, it will be vacuuming within the hour. Thanks, Thatwasherguy.

    Goodwill totally delivered today...

Here she is, in all her glory! Goodwills around me don’t usually have anything too noteworthy in the vacuum department, and I don’t have a ton of space for my machines. But this one was just way too nice to pass up. Anyone know when it was made or what it cost from new? Thanks, Thatwasherguy.

Do you remember your household vacs?

Childhood vacuums... We had a Eureka The Boss Victory (model 4335) that my parents got as a wedding gift in 1997. When it died around 2013, they got a Dyson DC-65 to replace it, that they still have today. Both grandmas had 8 pound Orecks, although one still had an Electrolux Super J in the...

You wouldn’t happen to have... A self propelled Eureka victory or a eureka cordaway upright, would you? Thanks, Thatwasherguy.

Heads Up!! Dirt Devil/Royal hand vac bag adaptors for sale on Ebay!

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all well. I just found an Ebay listing of several NOS Dirt Devil/Royal bag adaptors for the handheld vacuums. I’d been looking for one for my model 103 for a few months, so was quite happy to find one. I’m aware that this part is discontinued, and can be a bit tricky...

    Eureka Magazine Ads - 1910s to 2000s

OMG!! My parents had that EXACT Victory “The Boss” in reply 5 photo 19 when I was a kid. Trying to find another victory was what got me on VL in the first place. With that said, the victory is my favorite vacuum line. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Thatwasherguy.

    Vintage Eureka Canister Motor Disassembley

Figured it out… The motor disassembles from the top. There are two bolts located under the brushes that hold the bushing on and the field windings onto the fan plate. Got the bearing out, and new ones are on the way. Just thought I’d throw that out there for anyone who needed to know how...

    Vintage Eureka Canister Motor Disassembley

Hey everyone! Earlier today, I was given a beautiful vintage eureka canister vacuum in green. Upon initial inspection, it looks stunning. However, it has a major problem: Someone has used it without a bag (talk about spending dollars to save pennies) at some point in time, and the motor is a...

The Eureka whirlwind is now more than 20 years old.

I have the bagged version of this machine... And while it’s not the greatest vacuum in the universe, it’s not the worst, either, especially when you consider that it only cost around $200 in today’s money. (I can’t speak for the bagless models, though, as I’ve never used one, though I imagine...

My Latest Find: A Hoover PortaPower!!

A few more pictures... I just spent about an hour cleaning it up. It seems like a fun little machine to use. It reminds me a lot of the little handheld Oreck that my grandma has. This seems a bit more powerful though. Gottahaveahoove... It certainly has! From what I was told, it was...

My Latest Find: A Hoover PortaPower!!

Hi everyone! This was just given to me by my neighbor! The pictures you see are of the machine as found, I haven’t touched it yet. She said it belonged to her mother-in-law, and then she used it in her office for several years up until about 11 years ago. It still runs like the day it came...
