Watch those Kirby's. They will hurt you.

Ouch! I once dropped a Dirt Devil car vac (the black 12v copy of the iconic red hand vacs) on my big toe, barefoot on concrete (garage floor), the bottom of the box fell out as I was moving it, and the corner of the nozzle hit my toe just behind the first knuckle. Definitely broke it completely...

The rare ORIGINAL Dirt Devil Vision.

Years ago these were everywhere.. I've owned a couple.. They were honestly pretty poor vacuums by todays standards.. Heavy and hard to push, LOUD, flimsy plastics, tippy design, poor filtration and loss of suction. There's a reason they are uncommon now.. I can't use the term rare here.

Working on a Sebo Essential G2.. Need help!

Definitely not shorting out, it's not blowing the breaker or causing any sparks. It acts like one of the sensors (bag full or brush) is going wonky and shutting it off. I ran it for probably 20 minutes and again it tried to shut off but never actually did, and the bag full light came on and off...

Working on a Sebo Essential G2.. Need help!

I haven't opened it up yet, but the machine does not have a grounded cord. I ran it again for about 10 minutes and it "tried" to shut off twice but never did- lost speed and ramped back up with no indicator lights on. Bag check lit up a couple times randomly but never stayed on. There is a...

Working on a Sebo Essential G2.. Need help!

So I'm currently repairing (or trying to repair) a Sebo essential G2 for someone, and the issue it's having is it turns on, then immediately back off. I had run it for a good 10 minutes and seemed fine, then the check bag/clog light started flashing on and off, then stayed on. Nothing seemed...

Looking for advice.. Commercial wide path upright $350-$500?

I ended up going with the ProForce 15", but not before offending (or pissing off?) The office manager "because it looks like a dinosaur.. Don't you want a shark or something "nice"? Nope.. We need a commercial vacuum.. Ok FINE and hung up on me lol! (I had already approved the purchase through...

Looking for advice.. Commercial wide path upright $350-$500?

I'm not seeing the 18" Big Green for $499 now unfortunately, looks like at least $599 now, and over budget. I wasn't expecting to get $500 so not going to push it. I am seeing a Pro team 15" Hepa upright for around $400, and being that I will have a properly working vacuum, maybe a 15" machine...

Looking for advice.. Commercial wide path upright $350-$500?

Definitely going to have to go with new given the budget.. The last vac was $69 at the Target next to the office!

Looking for advice.. Commercial wide path upright $350-$500?

I just got another text from my manager asking me to send her a link by 1pm tomorrow, the person that does the ordering will be in the office. I knew I would be needing this advice soon, but maybe not this soon haha!

Looking for advice.. Commercial wide path upright $350-$500?

I've been cleaning for a college access center near me for about a year, and have been using a $69 bagless Bissell that entire time.. It's now worn out and in need of quick replacement. I just got the ok from my manager to spend up to $500, and I want a wide cleaning path (16-18") since we have...

All opinions welcome, need new machine

I have a Miele U1 Maverick and it deep cleans very well, I think it does at least as well as a Kirby. Plus it's easy to switch to attachments, has a long stretch hose that doesn't tip the vacuum over, and does excellent on bare floors, with the flip of one switch. Filtration is excellent (mine...

Shark Steam Pocket Mop not steaming

Not the pump but the steam generator/boiler unit likely clogged with hard water and blew one of the plastic hoses. I had one shortly after they came out (the original Shark steam mop) and someone had put Murphy's oil soap in the water tank.. The stuff had turned to concrete inside, actually had...

    Do belts stiffen with age?

They do harden, sometimes it doesn't take long. I used to clean my church and we had a Sanitaire upright that took Eureka round belts- there was a lot of carpet so I could burn through a good belt in a few weeks. I was using Hoover convertible belts becuse they fit a little tighter, but for a...

My new 12 Amp Mighty Mite "Pet Lover"

Our church has one of these, only it's slightly older and bright blue. It is used for the stairs and basement mostly, but it goes and goes. I had to replace a wheel after one of it's many trips down the stairs, the exhaust cover is long gone and the bag door hinge is broken.. I believe the cord...

    What really are stick vacuums?

I know the bag can be completely removed from a Hoover Quick broom without remiving any wires, I had one at one point and I know it came off over the handle and then I had to feed the cord through the bag. But as far as I remember it is doable. Mine was a 2 speed 3.5 amp, and I could never...

What vacuum do you recommend for the car?

I've learned the hard way about dirty car wash vacs, not so much the nozzle but that nasty hose! I've ended up with brown streaks on my light tan interior because I dragged the hose over the seat to clean the other side. I do think it's the best solution if you have a big mess or aren't ocd...

Miele U1 Maverick, started vibrating and sounded bad, easy fix!

I'll have to give it a wipe down, but it's a pretty sharp looking machine, all black. Mine doesn't have the headlight and it has the variable suction dial. I've been vacuuming with a "full" bag for a couple weeks, and little to no loss of suction. I need to get off my behind and order some bags!

Miele U1 Maverick, started vibrating and sounded bad, easy fix!

I finally got my Miele about a month ago, got a pretty much unused (still had the original bag in with only a few spoonfuls of dirt in it) U1 Maverick upright (guessing either store display or return) for a cool $50 rather than $450+, and I've been loving it until yesterday. We have 2 cats and a...

    Clorox wipes

I have always just removed the bag and washed it in the bathtub with a little laundry soap and warm water. Rinse it twice and hang up to dry. I wouldn't imagine Clorox wipes would do the job, especially if the bag is dirty.
