Royal Sad but who cares? Bottom line is well made quality and that brings us full circle back to Royals back when they were made in Cleveland. People don't do their research when they buy. High performance and quality workmanship. Bill

    New to me Royal 886

I have one too! Congratulations Matt! My first Royal was the 886 model. Very proud of this one and you will be too. Mine did not come with an owners manual. Would love a copy from somewhere sometime. You will find they are pretty easy to work with. We just love Royals! Bill...

    Royal SURPRIZE!

Dreams could come true That would be welcome miracle. Still, I wonder if American workmanship with the current generations of young people comes with the same level of pride as compared to vintage builders that built with passion and devotion to excellence back in the day. I doubt it. Bill

Royal belts -When to use Knurled vs. Standard?

Ben Ben, Out of curiosity, why would the same Royal model (9700) use two different belt part numbers? Maybe I am missing something! Seems I have to use a different belt for my Royal 4000 and 886 and 1994 Royal 9700 but for the 1990 I would change to the #1044260001 belt. Kinda sucks I have to...

Royal belts -When to use Knurled vs. Standard?

So, at the risk of this subject already been addressed multiple times and I missing it- What is the real deal? How does one know when to use a knurled belt and when to use a standard one? I think it has to do with whether ball bearings are involved and/or how many bristle rows there are...

Royal 9700 Brush Roll Part Number?

Need square Endcaps or adaptor for conversion I will call them to see if they have any left of the square end caps. In hindsight I should have waited for a 9700 that took hex end caps instead.

Royal 9700 Brush Roll Part Number?

Found this brush roll.. Wondering about this part to see if it is compatible with my square end cap Royal 9700: part # 2059721000 sq. end double row" or Royal Dirt Devil 4 Row 14 Inch Square End Ball Bearing Brush Roll. Fits Royal Model: 880, 884, 885, 886, 97001. Manufacturer Part No...

Royal 9700 Brush Roll Part Number?

Anybody know the original part number for the 9700 magnet brush roll? Since they are seemingly impossible to find, Is it true that a non-magnet 14 inch square ended brush roll would work and be compatible without interference to the spinning? Is that a feasible option if one does not care about...

ROYAL BRUSH Rolls- Are end caps swappable?

..Re-thinking this.. Thank you Ben. That is helpful. What I said earlier cannot be right that is- A square end is a square end and a hex end is a hex end. So they just have to be different. I'll have to check against my other uprights. If they made universal fittings customers would not be...

ROYAL BRUSH Rolls- Are end caps swappable?

Thinking it through As I think about this..it seems to me the only way to swap the caps would be if the underside to the hex caps would also be square because they must fit the square fitting on the receiving end. I can check my 886 or 4000 tomorrow. That should tell me something. Wondering if...

ROYAL BRUSH Rolls- Are end caps swappable?

Hello all! Well My new Royal 9700 came yesterday. It has square ends (July 1990). It was fitted with a non-magnet brush roll which explains why the green light was off (thanks to Stan). So I am in search of a new brush roll with square ends. Ben was right when he said they would be hard to...
