The most frustrating vacuum video on Youtube.

All you have to do is compare a central vac at the end of a hose to most portables, especially any of those battery powered toys, it would tell you everything you needed to know. Say all you want about airflow being reduced by the pipe run, but even after all that pipe and a full 60 feet of...

    Better than a carpet washer!

As someone who has dabbled in carpet cleaning, and who actually owns commercial equipment and uses ONLY professional chemicals, I can tell you, anyone with an even minute understanding of the science and mechanics of how carpet comes clean, you don't know much about much. Do you have ANY idea...

    Motors

They are different part numbers and they looks a bit different. The typical thing to do in the repair business would be to take them both apart and just compare the motor, make sure it will fit and that the same electrical connections exist.

Would a Wessel Werk turbine tool be a good investment for car cleaning?

I would say go for it, they're well made. I like either the Wessel Werk or the RugRat. The rugRat is louder and more aggressive, and the Wessel is quieter and not as aggressive on whatever you're running it on, and typically run better on things with less power than a central vac. If you want a...

    Central vacuum

It's a model E, serial 188. I know I talked to you about this one a couple years ago. Found on Facebook marketplace out of Colorado Springs. Was quite a treat, as I was assuming I'd have to go through all kinds of nonsense to find one and get it out of California somewhere, as an early MD was...

    Oreck

Oops, posted twice because I thought I lost the first one... I'm so good with technology!!!

    Oreck

They used to use metal fans in Orecks. The problem is that they weren’t more durable, and when they would break, they would also break the fan housing. The plastic fans they use today are quite tough, I’d personally just get the fan changed and keep vacuuming carelessly. It sounds shocking to...

    Oreck

I also refuse to bend down and pick anything up, as long as I know it'll fit through the machine. I tend to prefer using high powered clean air vacuums because of this, but unless the direct air machine is vintage I'm still far more likely to suck things up that would make some here faint. My...

    Favorite central/canister cleaning head?

My top 3 are the Lindhaus, Sebo and Wessel Werk, and in that order too. Wessel comes in last due to being a pin in the butt to service. I prefer how the customer (or me on a service call) can take the brushroll out of the other two without tools. The Sebo is second because the zig zag in the...

    Central Vac DIY Questions

The M715h is my absolute favorite machine to sell. It and the S900r are also the only two models I’ll recommend for my Hide-A-Hose installs. The excellent sealed suction not only pulls the hose in nicely, but it also really makes the performance impressive at the end of 60 feet of hose. And on...

What is the most powerful central vacuum?

I haven’t done the finish up on these two houses yet, but I took the liberty of selling these two huge 8 hose hide a hose jobs, in these houses up in the mountains over 8100ft above sea level, two split can M715hs, but it’ll be installed with one can and two motors. Did this because the 8.4 in...

    Split level central vacuum

To the OP, if you ever make it out to Denver CO, let me know, and we can spend an entire day schlepping my collection of power units, one by one, over to the power outlet and hear them run, feel the suction, connect up and play with the vintage inlets and attachments and all that fun stuff.

    Central vacuum

The unit I have connected to my system is an MD SilentMaster S5 240v. But I’ve got a large collection of older power units, both ones I’ve traded in and ones I’ve got from others in the business. My oldest machines being from 1962, one a Power Vac that was made here in Denver, and the other...

    Central vacuum recommendations?

My personal opinion would be the MD M715h. Being honest though, I am an MD dealer. But its extremely powerful, and my experience is that the support bag design does lead to better airflow, which is why I prefer the MD, FloMaster, and SilentMaster lines of theirs where the bag is in the top of...

    Central vacuum install "pipe dream"

I can't imagine not having a central vac. As much as I enjoy my portables, I still just can't imagine not having a central. If you live in Colorado or one of the states that touch it, I could definitely help. Even have a friend with more used MD units than he'll ever use...

    What does this year hold?

I’ve been extremely busy so far, so I’m hoping this year bring me more central vac work. I’d like to find some more friends locally. I’ve given up on the Colorado vacuum contingency, it seems they’re antisocial, so I’ll have to find other people around here.

Do central vacuums actually deep-clean carpets as good as a portable?

Blackheart, your Beam uses different, arguably better motors, 3 fan 5.7 horned exhaust. A little less CFM than the new one, but more water lift and a lot longer life. Vaclab I have sucked up everything, aside from the fireplace ashes (and I don't recommend that one), including damp stuff, and...

Do central vacuums actually deep-clean carpets as good as a portable?

Really that is it. A crappy install yields a crappy system with a lousy user experience. Also, the same goes for the unit and tool kit. As a side note, when I do an install I make damn good and sure the system performs as I led the customer to expect it would. Unless my work impresses me, I feel...

    Hoover Grease Gun

I have a Hoover grease gun, and have used several over the years. I've not once seen the dust cover for the thing, and the gun I have and others I've used more recently have a solid nice on the end of the motor bearing adapter, so I assume those never had the cover?
