Italian Industrial Floor Care Company called Eureka

Just discovered an Italian company named Eureka that produces ride-along industrial floor sweepers. Even the brandname and font look almost identical to the Bloomington Illinois company’s branding!!! Here is the link: https://www.eurekasweepers.com/en/our-story

Miele Guard L1 vs old C3 - airflow through the hose?

Does anyone know if the airflow through the hose is worse or better on the Miele Guard L1 vs the old C3? What about the old C1 vs the new compact Guard S1? Curious as to whether the airflow is better on the old models. You really can’t beat the airflow on the old C3/S8 canisters.

    Eureka S250A

Just to clarify what I meant: the Eureka with the brown bag in the first photos is a 250. The Eureka with the blue/green bag in the second set of photos is a 260 with an old 250 brandplate hose port cover instead of the newer plastic 260 hose port cover.

    Eureka S250A

I really don’t think that is a Eureka 250 upright. It is definitely the newer 1960’s Super Automatic 260 with a jammed in old unmatching hose port cover from an older 250. Someone must have lost the original blue or green hose port cover and some repair shop rejigged an older cover to fit the...

    Eureka Princess Canister TV Commercial

Oooops! I meant to type “pn canister” not “pw canister”!!!! In those years, Consumer Reports justifiably had two separate sets of rankings for canisters - one for suction only canisters, and another for power nozzle canisters.

    Eureka Princess Canister TV Commercial

Ah yes. The famous Eureka 1255 Roto-Matic Power Team. The top-rated power nozzle canister in the 1974 Consumer Reports vacuum ratings. It was the top pw canister because it was a Best Buy at only $130….very good value for the money. Excellent deep carpet cleaning gave it the top score. The...

    Eureka Princess Canister TV Commercial

I was never a fan of canister vacuums that stored their attachments inside the dustbag compartment. No where did I ever see a warning label to remove the tools or tool tray before turning on the vacuum. Any residual dirt, lint and dust left on the bristles of the tools could easily get sucked...

    Eureka Princess Canister TV Commercial

I think that unusual gold Princess 737 is actually from a display at the Mid Missouri Vacuum Store and Museum. The museum is run by Vacuumland member Dysonman, I think. He would definitely know the story behind that Eureka.

    What are Oreck doing?

It’s amazing the important role Whirlpool played in the design and development of vacuum cleaners in the US. The name should be honoured right along with the likes of Hoover, Eureka, Singer and Electrolux.

(1980s) Viking 241 Electronic canister vacuum.

Re: Electrolux North America going retail. I remember seeing Electrolux power nozzle canisters being sold at Sears in Toronto in the 1990’s.

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

Here’s a great historical overview of the Progress company by a vacuum fan in Germany. I’ll never forget seeing one of those 1980’s Progress electric brooms labelled as a Eureka in one of our vacuum stores in Toronto. Here’s the website: https://www.staubsauger-progress.de

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

Yes - while Googling the German words “staubsauger Progress” to find images of various Progress cleaners, I came upon many websites showing the dustbags for this model. There were dustbag packages that listed all the Progress and Volta and Electrolux models that would take a single dust bag...

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

Eureka! I found it! This German-made Electrolux was originally made by the German Progress vacuum company….After Electrolux AB of Sweden gobbled up Progress, they started to relabel some of the Progress cleaners as Electrolux, Eureka and Sanitaire…the latter two brandnames slapped onto...

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

I know…I saw that…but the bags are made in Sweden….which means it’s not a regular American Eureka Bloomington design…the only European made Sanitaire canister I ever saw was a rebranded AEG canister married to an Express Power Nozzle….but I think that was made in Germany - it had two doors on...

Sanitaire S490A -- Original Power Nozzle?

I am trying to picture the Sanitaire S490. Does someone have a picture of the cleaner and the power nozzle? And was it an Express power nozzle?

Can anyone identify a vacuum by a handle?

I don’t know…I can’t see the lower half of the handle. I only see the very top. I think it’s an early maroon Panasonic Jet-Flo too.

    Electrolux vacuums to become extinct?

The American Electrolux/Aerus company may be fading into history. However, it is important to remember that the original Swedish Electrolux company (which gave birth to the American Electrolux company) is still in operation and sells vacuum cleaners under the Electrolux and AEG brandnames all...

New Miele Guard Series Now Available in Canada!

I don’t like that square single power control. If your eyesight is not good, it will be difficult to know which corner to press to turn on the cleaner or adjust the power. It will always be like “shooting in the dark”. Certainly bad for trying to use your foot to turn the thing off. And...
