    Hoover Duros

Anyone tried one of the Hoover Duros cannister vacs? I've seen the S3590B model at Costco, and looked at some on-line customer reviews, but am unsure if it's a good vac or not. My home is mostly hardwood floors with area carpets in a couple of rooms. Currently I use a Bissell Butler on the...

    Sanitaire SC782/SC785

Clay, How would you compare the 782/785 Sanitaires with the C5712a Eureka Commercial? I saw that for a while there was a Sanitaire version of the C5712a, but it seems to have been dropped. But I'd have to say that after trying a number of diffrent vacs, including various bagless, the C5712a is...

    Eureka Commercial Vacuum

Yep. I think bagless vacs are a false economy. Many people, myself included, think or thought that bagless would be great because there would be no need to spend $$$ on bags every year. But the hazzle of emptying the dust bin after every room more or less negates the slight savings in bags. And...

    Original Hoover Constellation Model 86

OK, I finally got back to the barn where the old Constellation was stored. It's missing thehose and power cord. When I picked it up, it rattled. So I opened it and inside was the motor, in many pieces. In other words, a gutted Constellation. The color is more tan than yellow. And it is indeed...

    Eureka Commercial Vacuum

Just an update on my recently acquired Eureka commercial. Finally "filled" the bag up, with normal household vacuuming. It was so nice not to have to empty a dust cup after every room. I got about two months out of one bag. The best thing is, I never noticed any loss of suction. Maybe it's the...

    60's Kirby

Thanks, Thunderhexed. As you may notice from the pics, this DS50 has the original tan bag, and it's in very good shape. I emptied it out the other weekend, and it looked like someone tried to clean a fireplace with it... lots of black soot/dust. But I was impressed with the bag construction -...

    Original Hoover Constellation Model 86

Thanks. I didn't mean to say that the 86 was the FIRST Constellation, only that this was a vintage version, not the modern retro re-issue.

    Original Hoover Constellation Model 86

Is there any interest in an original Hoover Constellation Model 86? I know where there is one, and I might be able to pick it up this weekend as I'm purchasing other stuff. The vac is just the container. There is no power cord, hose, or attachments. It is yellow in color. It doesn't appear to...

    Rare Argyle Minivac

Do you have the crumb tray attachment, also known as the "Crumbi-Butler"?

    Kirby Timeline

Can anyone list the years that various Kirby models were released? I'm particularly interested in the period of the Dual Sanitronic and 500 series. Thanks

    Rare Argyle Minivac

L.A. is OK I live in the East Bay. I grew up in SF, and of course we all sort of made fun of LA, but I've visited down there since and it's OK with me. The name C.O.Y.O.T.E. sounds familiar. Isn't that the organization started by Susan St. James?

    Kirby Dual Sanitronic 50 question

I wasn't aware that the Dual 50 has a two speed motor.

    Rare Argyle Minivac

Ah yes, the rare and elusive Argyl-O-Vac Specailly bred to track down and eliminate Scottish dust bunnies... Wearing of the kilt is optional for operator.

What are your favorite Kirby models????

Those are all very nice Kirbys. I bought a Dual 50 today... had to drive about 140 miles round trip for it, but I think it was worth it... it came with the Handi-Butler, Rug Renovator, various sprays, floor polisher. It works well, just obviously needs cleaning and polishing. (more pics in the...

    60's Kirby

PS-The seller also had an original Hoover Constellation model 86 in the barn, but it was pretty beat up. No power cord, no hose, etc, just the base globe. It is yellow.

    60's Kirby

Any idea of the year of manufacture of the DS50? The seller first said '50's, and then updated that to '60's, but I have no idea which is correct.

    60's Kirby

Thanks What's "missing": Two wand extensions (I have two gray ones what will probably work) Upholstery brush nozzle ("duster brush) Crevice tool (again, might have gray version) Utility brush nozzle Utility nozzle Handi-waxer Flexible shaft However, the vacuum is usable as is.

Handi Butler This looks to be mint, although some of the polishing pads look used. The grinding wheel is mint. I'm quite amused by this accessory. I work as a machinist and it kind of blows me away that anyone would think of using a vacuum cleaner as a grinder/polisher. But then, back in the...
