Sounds like Sounds like the speed control switch is bad. It makes contact for the light but no contact for the motor. I am willing to bet this is the problem. Direct connect the motor to see if it runs.

No... No... it doesn't have that topper. It had nothing on the bag. I did see a two-finger hook type thing on ebay. But it didn't look like the topper you mentioned.

Yes That's the switch I was looking for. I have two model Traditions that are original-one is pristine with the original speed switch setup, and the other one is a little finicky.

Regarding replacing the screw... So, can you guys tell me how do you replace the screw that attaches the cover to the body? You can't access it directly unless you were to use an offset screw driver like the "SkewDriver". Is this correct?
