    Oreck XL 40th Anniversary

David Oreck called nearly all of his vacuums "XL something". Remember the breathless ads loudly proclaiming "the eight pound Oreck XL blah blah blah" ? With a few exceptions when David Oreck owned the company everything was an XL something or the other.

A YouTube channel named Vacuum Facts doesn’t know how bagged vacuums works.

The yellow part is a little cyclone thing. It gets the air spinning so the dust falls out. No mistake. The Japanese vacuum manufacturers were on an ULPA filtration kick for a time. Sanyo claims 99.99% filtration at 0.08 microns for the Airsis line. The filter under that round hatch on the...

    Heavily abused Dysons

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no synthetic bags available for the Sebo BS36 from Sebo or from an aftermarket supplier like Swirl or Menalux. Paper only.

USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

I think it was towards the end of the line of the big steel pony tanks that they were equipped with Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzles. Airway Sanitizor also sold a version of the Model 88 with the same Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzle.

    updated kirby avalir platinum?

Different strokes I guess. I always thought the bag topper looked cheesy and fragile.

    updated kirby avalir platinum?

Looking at the detailed images of the Platinum innards it seems that an Avalir 2 owner with some experience disassembling Kirbys, and the new parts and right piece of closed cell foam could update their Avalir 2 to Platinum spec. In the fullness of time I will have to do this.

A YouTube channel named Vacuum Facts doesn’t know how bagged vacuums works.

This is one of several Airsis models I have, in this case one with Panasonic branding from after they bought out Sanyo. The model designation is MC-SXJ4000W. This is the third generation of the Airsis. There would be one more with a double chamber dust bin, different cyclone and configured to...

    Most unpleasant-sounding vacuum ever?

We have a big Rigid wet dry vac and it is pretty mellow sounding with the big thick HEPA filter in the bucket and their exhaust filter.

    Most unpleasant-sounding vacuum ever?

What gets me about Dysons is that most sold in the US use suction motors from Panasonic, yet Kenmore and Panasonic branded vacuums with Panasonic motors don't sound as annoying, finger nails on the chalkboard shrill.

    Door to door sales. Sleazy?

I'm just old enough to remember the Fuller Brush salesman coming to the door to peddle cleaning supplies. My mom always turned him away politely. I have encountered Kirby sales people but never any other brand.

USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

Here's a blue one. You can see the necks are different that those used with Kenmore, Panasonic, Hayden, Centec or Nutone...

USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

Royal 4650s came with Whirlpool / Panasonic power nozzles in both burgundy and blue. Here is a burgundy example on eBay...

    New Miracle Mates

Weirdness ! The filter media inside looks like the the standard electrostatic exhaust filter. Since it plugs into the power nozzle power socket you can't use it with a power nozzle. The inner cloth bag and paper dust bag are standard Miracle Mate parts. Not sure what the point is. Selling a...

    Needing answers to some questions

From experience, larger diameter hoses and wands, on the order of 38-40 mm diameter, maximize airflow. Some modern Japanese canister vacuums use hoses as large as 48 mm inside diameter! Modern Hitachi hoses are 48 mm at the canister end and 46 mm at the hose handle. Also, gentle curves on...

Best small non-natural fiber dusting attachment?

I have one of those too but the bottom one with the long bristles cleans the best of the bunch IMHO. I generally don't like nylon bristle dusting brushes but that bottom one of the three on the OP is actually a darn good dusting brush.

Best and worst aftermarket brand of bags?

I have Kenmore canisters going back to the late 1940s, one of almost every canister body Kenmore sold. Not ever model but just about every body. The current 600 Series "Pop-N-G0" canister is the best vacuum Kenmore has ever sold. I still cherish and use a 1982 Sears Best Kenny and will never...

Sadie the cleaning lady and GE Oceania

There's probably a Youtube video out there somewhere. I have seen a video where a Dyson was used to suck up gasoline.
