    NZ Electrolux machines

Patience and persistence are key. I have stalked ebay and other sites for vacuums for as long as 15-16 years before one finally became available to buy. Part of the fun of collecting is the hunt. Sometimes just one part of a vacuum I desire, a hose or a power nozzle, will turn up but nothing...

USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

So there you are with a 1960 vintage vacuum that had thoroughly modern direct connections from the vinyl hose to the canister and on the other end from the hose handle to the wand. Clean, no pig tails at either end. How many more decades did pig tail connections persist on other brands of...

    New Miracle Mates

The CMB, aka Edgelift, pn is actually a good power nozzle. I am trying to get replacement brush rolls, belts and a spare motor or two for mine so it can soldier on. It's held together with machine screws in steel threaded inserts which is unusual to see.

Their attachments are modeled after traditional Tristar attachments, right down to the sparkles in the transparent blue plastic.

    New Miracle Mates

I don't have Facebook so I can't look. But I spoke to them last week and I mentioned it was a shame they weren't making new vacuums any more. The guy on the other end corrected me and said they were now making new ones. To me that is fantastic news, especially after Tristar died. I like the...

Thoughts on The Lindhaus Healthcare Pro 14in

If I didn't live way out in the high desert I couldn't begin to afford what I have in terms of a home and property. For what my home would sell for in the high desert I could maybe buy a nice townhouse in a larger city. I'm more than happy to live out in the sticks but it's not for everybody.

Thoughts on the Sebo Balance A1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner?

Pretty simple. It's what people want to buy. The local vac shop is a Sebo dealer. He is also a Sanitaire and Oreck dealer who stocks some Cirrus and Carpet Pro vacuums. He tells me he has an endless stream of people coming in looking for something a lot less expensive than what he sells and...

    Royal Lux D770

Ah ok, I know who Beko is. Enjoy his videos a lot. But I don't even think Beko could get one of those two stage Swedish Electrolux motors apart. The fans are pressed on so there is no way to remove them for disassembly. Like I said, not a big deal for people living in a 220-240 volt country...

USA Semiquincentennial in 2026 - Anniversary Models?

You know the Metrovac Evolution full size canister is a lot like an old Royal. They are all metal and pretty solid. I'v never had a Royal canister to compare it to ( in the fullness of time I will have one ) but they look pretty similar to like a Royal 400 series. I have one of the Metrovacs...

The hack that can save pre-release version of Dyson V16

I understand that. The Kenmore has a female hose end with an irregular shape. I can't get a reliable suction reading on it. I'm working on that.

Thoughts on The Lindhaus Healthcare Pro 14in

I used full size canisters in smaller homes than that. To me all the greater floor space means is that you have more rooms, not necessarily bigger rooms. I have 2300 sq ft in my current home but the two small bedrooms are still only 10x12, same as my previous 1380 sq ft home. The new home...

    New Miracle Mates

It's still the tried and true Platinum canister, but now it comes with the Galaxy power nozzle. The US Miracle Mate side doesn't have a website per-se, but instead have a Facebook page. The Canadian side has a website but they are mostly inactive now and Jupiter's punitive tariffs on Canada...

    The new Air-Way Ultra Kleen

I thought AIrway wants $1,100 for the Quiet Kleen? The Scout is less than half that price. Admittedly the version Airway sells looks a lot classier but not sure if it's worth the extra $500-$600 over the Scout. Same machines other than colors. I've been using one of those $199 factory...

Thoughts on the Sebo Balance A1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner?

Going inside the machine isn't necessary to minimise smells if a product hasn't been abused. Pet and tobacco odors get past any filter to stink up the insides of a vacuum. I wouldn't go as far as saying "mains-equivalent." Running a highly unscientific test, I ran the V15 2 full cycles, then...

Kenmore Bags with a translucent backing?

That makes no sense. How can it flow air?

    NZ's GE Swivel Top

Amazing find in fabulous condition. I believe in South America the Swiveltop continued into the 1990s under Black and Decker. A lot of US industrial tooling went to South America to die. Chrysler was making 1960s Dodge Dart derivatives, some with big block V-8 engines, well into the 1990s...

Thoughts on the Sebo Balance A1 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner?

Actually two of my laptops are pushing 20 years old and one of the two still works perfectly. I do have a modern US made gaming laptop into which I basically speced every component and expect it to last a similar amount of time. I run nothing but open source software ( Linux, Libre Office...

    Godfrey's refurbished machines

Refurbishing used Electrolux ( US Electrolux ) vacuums for resale was how Metropolitan Vacuum Company, aka Metrovac, got their start in manufacturing. The original owner was selling Electroluxes door to door before WWII, then set up a storefront business in New York. That morphed into a...

    Royal Lux D770

Very cool. They are great vacuums. Oh, and while the original Swedish motors cannot be repaired when they wear out Domel sells a high quality 220-240 volt two stage replacement motor for them. There is also a kit to convert it to use a modern single stage motor also from Domel that really...
