    STAN KANNS VACUUMS FOR SALE!!!

That's just disgusting. I didn't ever know him personally, but it seems like this is just such a terrible way for such a fantastic collection to end up. Some of those machines belonged in a museum.....not being sold by one!

    Last Friday''s garage sale find!

A friend of mine had one of those when I was a kid. They actually work decently well! I used to laugh at the pie shaped head, but you know....it actually does a great job in corners!

    TRI STAR

Sandy... I wasn't trying to make you leave or insult you in ANY way! I just know that machine inside and out, and it seemed a bit trivial to be hearing the obvious stated. In no way was any offense expressed or implied. Not in any way.

    Bernina upright

Oil in the Brushroll Bearings Too bad those bearings won't last till the water gets hot after being hit with that thin oil. That's the quickest way to ruin a bearing under tension of a belt. If the bearings are bad, and they're ball bearings, either replace them, or pry out the seal and repack...

    TRI STAR

Danemodsandy.... I know my TriStar pretty well.....I don't need an education lesson on the vacuum, but thanks. It is definitely the little standard filter-disk thing making the noise. It has a foam insert in it, and the vacuum moves SO MUCH AIR that it causes the foam to try to push through...

    TRI STAR

I personally never even use the standard post-filter on my TriStar. When it's installed, it makes the most irritating wind noise. I wish they still made the elements for the original Filter Fresh (the gigantic mushroom looking abortion) since it worked great, but didn't choke the vacuum power...

    TRI STAR

Filters The only real filters are the bags and the post-filter. The filtration system consists of the paper bags (which are usually micro-lined), the cloth filter-fabric bag, the pre-motor filter (which is generally foam, although HEPA filters are available), and then the post-filter which...

    Compact Electra C6

Their history page isn't complete by a LONG shot. A good example is that they left out the TriStar DXL which should have been between the CXL (which ended production in '92) and the EX-20 which ended production in 1998.

Listed a very nice Hoover Clean and Light

Richard... I hate to say it, but I do agree with the predominant voice here that you really shouldn't say what you paid for it initially. It has nothing to do with the economy, and everything to do with "good business practices". There are two things you NEVER tell potential customers, or...

    Whats wrong with my hoover.

Sounds like really, really bad motor bearings. Check and make sure the fan isn't broken or have a chip missing out of a fin too.
