    Kirby 1-CB motor issues

New fan kit is on the way. I also got a new rug plate gasket... Have been meaning to get one on there for some time.

    Kirby 1-CB motor issues

Should I look for a specific kind of fan then? There's bunches on eBay, they all look more-or-less the same. Some are listed for G series, other for Heritage/Legend series models. Wondering what the real differences are, and whether it's possible or worth pursuing a kevlar/whatever material fan...

    Kirby 1-CB motor issues

Kevlar, huh? Searching around, some people say it's Lexan, others say it's Kevlar. Not sure... Seems the G5 and later have the fans made with this more durable material... whatever it is. I found reports of people putting a kevlar (or lexan... or whatever) fan in a Kirby Classic III. Where...

    Kirby 1-CB motor issues

I used tweezers to get all the cat fur out of the fan blades. That temporarily did the trick. After a full cleaning the sound is gradually coming back. Lo and behold, so is the cat fur on the fan blades. Bag is almost empty, fill tube isn't clogged. Not sure I've ever had cat fur stick to the...

    Kirby 1-CB motor issues

I seem to recall some sort of sealant being put between the fan case and motor. Is such a thing necessary, and if so, what type of sealant is it?

    Kirby 1-CB motor issues

Recently, my Kirby 1-CB started making a low-pitched, "motor boating" sound when running. It's not coming from the rug nozzle or anything... it's the motor. (Nothing attached, and running motor by pressing power + speed switch.) I cleaned some stuff out of the fan blades. They collected some...

Best practices for replacing Kirby rug nozzle gasket?

Just to be clear, the gasket I'm talking about is the one on the rug plate, that holds the brush roller. I realize there's multiple gaskets in this thing. Thanks.

Best practices for replacing Kirby rug nozzle gasket?

Hello all! What are the best practices when removing an old rug nozzle gasket, and replacing it? In terms of: -- The best way to remove the old rubber and adhesive -- The best kind of adhesive to use -- Tips on alignment, dry time, etc? My Kirby Classic Omega (seen in this thread...

    Washing a Legend II bag

As I feared the Omega sani-emptor won't fit on the Legend II unless I put it on sideways. Awkward. Oh well. Selling it for parts then! The Legend II bag is a few inches taller than the Omega bag. So when I use the Omega bag hook, I have some slack. If this poses a problem during normal...

    Washing a Legend II bag

Thanks, The bag is clean. I didn't turn inside out.... but it was on gentle cycle. The bag looks fine. Thank you guys! I may have found a home for the Legend II + Omega dump bag... but I need to test everything first.

    Washing a Legend II bag

Good deal. I am planning on putting this disposable bag system on my Classic Omega. I recently had the Classic Omega rebuilt (as seen in this thread http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?15209 ) If the Legend II works OK after I'm done working on that one I might give it to...

    Washing a Legend II bag

Hi! I just grabbed a Kirby Legend II. It's absolutely filthy. I need to clean the bag. I've already thrown away the disposable paper bag, and will buy some more. What's the recommended/safest way to wash the red cloth bag itself? I have a Classic Omega dump bag and I have machine-washed that a...

    Upgrading my Kirby Classic Omega

Thanks! Turns out that the one Kirby sells comes in solid black! Bag only is about $38... the whole kit is about $134 though so... Thanks for that!

    Upgrading my Kirby Classic Omega

Interesting. I used the Rug Renovator today. I'm used to getting a huge amount of nasty crap (fur, and unspeakable goo) trapped on the inside of the rug renovator during use. But THIS time, after a thorough vacuuming with the new brush roller, I used the Rug Renovator, and there was hardly...

    Upgrading my Kirby Classic Omega

I'm happy to report that the 4-row brush roller is a significant improvement!! Not only does it clean better (through sheer extra vibrations and contact with brushes), but the thing is slightly easier to push, and the annoying rattling sound went away. I guess that the brush roller now vibrates...

    Upgrading my Kirby Classic Omega

4-row brush roller is on its way. Then later, I'll get the bag kit... 2 questions: 1.) Are all pre-G-series emptors cross-compatible? (aside from the physical size of the emptor, does the opening that attaches emptors on all pre-G-series Kirby models fit across-the-board? That link above where...

    Upgrading my Kirby Classic Omega

Maybe I'm changing my mind. I might get a brush roller since that's not too much money, and may make it perform better. Will a Heritage style brush fit on this model as-is? Or do I need additional parts/modifications?
