Similarities and Differences between Sanitaire Models SC886 and SC679

The sc886 has the 7 amp pancake motor. The newer pancake motors are a bit different than the earlier pancake motors and they do sounds different. I believe the 5 amp motor in the sc679 is a blender motor. One motor I'd really like to try is the 2 speed stepdown motor in the sc889. My local...

Similarities and Differences between Sanitaire Models SC886 and SC679

Blender Motor Vs. Pancake Motor I believe the sc679 has the same 5 amp blender motor as my Eureka 1934b. I know it is not as strong as the 7 amp pancake motor in my s675, but in some ways I actually prefer the lower powered motor. My belts last longer with the blender motor. It's a little...

My $50 New Eureka 1934B With Upgrades

New Brush Strips I stopped by my local shop today for some new brush strips for my vgI brushroll. My old ones did show a little wear when compared to the new ones. I will try the vgI again when I do the cleaning job next weekend.

My $50 New Eureka 1934B With Upgrades

I should say that the bag on the 1934 held much more dirt than the bag on the backpack vac usually has in it when I finish cleaning the rooms. Perhaps having a brush roll helped things out, even with the low pile glue down carpet.

My $50 New Eureka 1934B With Upgrades

After trying out both brush rolls during today's cleanup time, I decided to metro the vgII in the 1934. It handled ground in crumbs better. I wonder if my vgI needs new brush strips. They bristles stick out past the rug plate, though not quite as far as the bristles on the vgII.

My $50 New Eureka 1934B With Upgrades

While browsing Amazon last weekend, I happened upon a new Eureka 1934B, with a damaged box, for $50 with free 2-day Prime shipping. We have a Prime account, so I bought it on the spot. It arrived two days later in new, unblemished condition. I was quite excited, and quickly assembled the...

    F&G Eureka 1934b

A Great Deal on a Great Vac For one day, Amazon had the same price, with Prime shipping. It's back up to $81 again on Amazon. Wal-Mart is offering a terrific deal for an outstanding vacuum. Last weekend, I paid $50.10 for a new one in a damaged box from Amazon. Mine arrived as described, in...

Eureka Dial-A-Nap vs. ESP vs. Rugulator vs. The Boss 1934 vs. Retro Vac vs. Sanitaire SC888

No nosedive with my S675 My blue line S675, with its plastic base and metal hood, does not nosedive. It seems to have a good weight balance. I can imagine it would nosedive if it was any lighter, so I'm sure the metal hood helps. I do find that I like having the height set just a little...

    My New Guardsman!

Dustcup Guardsman Seeing your vacuum made me think of the Guardsman I saw at the hotel we stayed in for a few days. The hotel Guardsman had a dustcup, and looked to be rather abused. I'd rather have a disposable bag like yours has over the dustcup. The biggest problem with the hotel's...

Hilariously angry sounding Electrolux turbo brush

Wessel Werk How well do the Wessel Werk TK 270 and TK 284 perform. How do you like them compared to your other brushes?

Has Kirby Significantly Improved Since the G3?

The newer Tech Drives are much smoother than what's found on most G3s. My G4 has a very smooth Tech Drive. It never feels jumpy.

How to Set the Height on My New Sanitaire

Thanks, Eurekaprince Thanks for the advice, Eurekaprince. I'll plan to keep it on the higher setting 4. My vacuum does have the 7 amp motor. I do have some extra belts, though the first belt still seems to be working well. It also uses ST bags instead of the F&G bags. I'm hoping the...

How to Set the Height on My New Sanitaire

Thanks for the Confirmation Dan, I appreciate your quick response. You confirm what I thought to be the case. I guess I don't need to drop it one more click like on my Kirby vacuums. Perhaps it is because the Kibry seems to have more height clicks, with one Kirby click dropping the height a...

How to Set the Height on My New Sanitaire

I've been enjoying my new Sanitaire S675 for the last couple of weeks. I've had one question that I've been unsure about since I brought the vacuum home. How should I set the 6-position height knob? I'm used to setting my Kirby vacuums by lowering the nozzle until the sound changes, then one...

Contemporary vac that doesn't look it?

Price Drop on Eureka 1934B to $89.88 I noticed that Amazon's price for the Eureka 1934B dropped today from $99.99 to $89.88. I've seen Amazon do this before on other items. The price drop may only last a day or two. I wish I already had my tax refund. I really don't need another vacuum...

Contemporary vac that doesn't look it?

Eureka 1934B The Eureka "The Boss" 1934B is one of the best vacuum cleaner values out there! It's available at Amazon for $99 with prime shipping. I've considered buying one, just because it's such a good vacuum for the money. I'd probably put in an ST dirt tube, as I really like the Eureka...

Contemporary vac that doesn't look it?

Sanitaire Blue Line I also wanted a classic styled vacuum, and ended up buying a blue Sanitaire S675. It's well built and performs admirably on carpet. I've owned a couple of Kirby vacuums that also did quite well, though I like how the Sanitaire's brushroll grooms the carpet better. If...

My New Sanitaire S675 With Its Older Cousin, Kirby

Double-Zipper Bag I found a blue line Sanitaire with a double zipper bag: The S670. Vacshack.com shows it to have a double zipper bag. My local shop is a vacshack.com company. Perhaps The shop sold me the S675 for such a nice price because they were making room for the updated model...

My New Sanitaire S675 With Its Older Cousin, Kirby

On Selling My Classic III.... My wife has approached me about selling the "Old Red Kirby." She has used it many times, and likes it better than the G4, but doesn't think I need so many vacuums. I will gladly sell or give the G4 to someone who will enjoy it, but I would regret selling the...

My New Sanitaire S675 With Its Older Cousin, Kirby

Single Zipper, ST Bag My S675 has a single zipper and uses Eureka ST bags. I really like the ST bags. My Kirby G4 uses the Style 3 bags. The ST bags seem bigger, and they are easier to install. I don't plan on converting the G4 to use the newer "Style F" bags, though I venture to guess that...
