    Kirby Utility Model H

Every once in a while you find something cool.. I collect mainly Cleveland vacuums that are pre WW11 manufacture... Apex, Vital, Kirby, Electro-Hygiene, Royal, etc. I just acquired this (I believe) rare Kirby. From what I've read it's not well known and there seems to be very little as far as...

    Electro Hygiene model 94 oiling

Oiled I oiled at both points..waited a few days and oiled again (assuming it has not been oiled for decades)...still sounds bad...the rear bushing/bearing is making the noise. Guess I'll have to tear it down and inspect. I'll get more pics....does not have the original bag..has an older...

    Electro Hygiene model 94 oiling

I recently purchased a model 94 with a hammered finish. On the top of the motor housing is a screwed on cover. I expected that under the cover would be spring with cloth on the end for oiling....there is nothing I can see under the cover. What is it ? It does run but it is noisy....maybe I...

    Electro-Hygiene Sales Manual

Too funny A home health system, huh ? Let us know if the sales manual mentions other brands (competitors) such as Kirby.....how to respond if the potential buyer asks why the Electro-Hygiene is better than the Kirby..... Where did you find the manual ? Nice addition to your collection.

Has anyone ever used Sugru to replicate hard-to-find trim pieces?

Would be difficult I've used it before to make a missing foot for an old typewriter. It's like molding playdough and is very pliable....you let it sit and it hardens after a while. If you could make a mold out of wax or something, I'd say go for it.....without a mold it would be extremely...

The Hoover Baby Model 103 Really Old and Original

Edison Outlet Phaeton - You can easily install an "Edison Outlet"......I see them on eBay every once in a while....or, your local salvage/antique store may have them. Just hook up two wires and you're good to go. If I had an extra, I'd send it to you davevac

The Hoover Baby Model 103 Really Old and Original

Outlet Here it is...an Edison Outlet...they were the first way to plug something in. And PLEASE don't take the plug off your machine...it is rare If you are ever going to sell it...let me know.....but I would keep it if I were you

The Hoover Baby Model 103 Really Old and Original

NICE ! Very nice.....my house (built in 1881) was electrified in 1905 and has the screw in outlets in most rooms. That vacuum would have been used in my house. I've been looking for a machine like yours to add to my collection.....it's first on my list... CONGRATS ! Maybe I'll add a picture...

Something satisfying with an old vac

Better believe it ! I use a refrigerator from 1934 to keep drinks cold.....I wash my clothes in a gasoline engine Maytag ringer washer from 1924 or sometimes in a 1898 washing machine that is fully manual. Of course, I run an old 1920s Apex vacuum. I can't honestly say that the vacuum works as...

    Air Way Brushes fix

Other Vacuum It's a Vital sweeper...non-electric....made in Cleveland. It actually works and the bag fills up with air pretty quickly.. you just have to keep moving with it

    Air Way Brushes fix

I purchased my AirWay a few years ago at an antique mall. At that time I asked if anyone knew how to fix the hard "brushes" or whatever thry are called...no one knew. I had some spare time today and made a contraption that worked perfectly ! I didn't take "before" pictures but the brushes were...

    Shocked!

Wow !! Merry Christmas to You ! If it had the original bag, I was going to bid maybe up to $ 500.... Yikes !

Old Royal Vacuum. Trying to find value.

Royal I have that same machine..mine was free but I would think it's only a $ 50 value at the most since it does not run and shipping costs are very high. I would pay $50 for it if I saw it at an antique mall (no shipping) It's cool and would clean up very well.

New baby in our house !

Oil I only put 8 drops of oil in the top of the motor where it indicates to add 3-4 drops with every use. I put in 4 one day and 4 the next day. I would imagine it has not been oiled in years or even decades. I only ran it for 10-15 seconds and shut it off.

New baby in our house !

A Hoover baby that is.....Hoover Baby Model C. I collect mostly pre - 1940 vacuums made in or near Cleveland, Ohio. This one was manufactured in New Berlin, Ohio and has the last patent date in 1917. I won it on eBay and it did not have a cord..I wired it after cleaning it and it does run but...

    Premier Duplex

Another Pic Here's my Premier hand held with the same bag design. The label states that it was manufactured by the Electric Vacuum Co. in Cleveland,Ohio......so, I assumed that my newly acquired one was the same manufacturer.

    Premier Duplex

Manufacturer I mis-spoke in my post....it's the Electric Vacuum Co. in Clev. I have a Premier Spic and Span hand held with a very similar bag design.. since my Premier Duplex has no name badge, I assume that it is of the same era and manufacture as the hand held......??

    Premier Duplex

I found a Premier on Craigslist along with an Electrolux XXX both in excellent condition and very reasonably priced. I mainly collect early Cleveland, Ohio vacuums so the Premier attracted my attention. I'm stumped because the Premier has no serial number or name tag....in fact, there is no...
