    My "new" Good Housekeeper

Jeff Yes, I believe the nozzle guard was replaced on my newer Good Housekeeper because it is screwed on...I think the original would have been riveted on. Just guessing though. and yes, that is a hammered Electro-Hygiene in the left....not the original bag and it runs a little rough....I didn't...

    Birtman

price I saw it listed at 19.99 and it said it did not run maybe because of a bad cord. I messaged him and asked if he tested it by plugging in directly to the two posts on the top of the machine...he messaged me back that he did that and now had relisted it at 39.99. I think the shipping was...

    My "new" Good Housekeeper

A local vacuum store called me Saturday with a trade in they received. It's a Good Housekeeper that appears to be from the 20s or 30s...if I'm not mistaken, it was made by the PA Geier Co. which was Royal. I included a pic of my Good Housekeeper from ( I think ) the early 40s.. I also have my...

    Very old vac collection

painted I know....most of the washing machines have been restored/repainted also. I'm more of a purist....I only paint any collectible if it is so far gone that it doesn't really matter... None of my vacuums/washers have been repainted ....washers may be "enhanced" a little

    Very old vac collection

In addition to vacuums, I collect old washing machines as well as a few refrigerators. While researching an old Dexter washer on Oldewash.com, I saw pictures of the washing machine museum's vacuum collection...many old pump vacs that I never knew existed as well as a few electric models. Looks...

Thrift stores I see Kirbys all the time in my area....Goodwill and Volunteers of America have one every 2 months or so...I don't collect post war models so I pass them by. I would buy them for all of you but shipping makes it cost prohibitive.... I never see the ones I collect because if they...

    Sanitary Special non-electric

follow up Just got home and mine does not have the instruction tag and it looks like there is no place where it used to be...(no holes for screws or rivets). I watched the YouTube video...looks like the person that refurbished it used a generic or home made bag. Anyway, I would have paid $75...

    Sanitary Special non-electric

Wow ! Yours has to be older than mine...wood wheels - Wow And the bag looks much older than mine....I'll have to check when I get home for the tag on the bottom but I don't think it has one. I bought mine in Columbus at an antique mall....think I paid around $40 for it.... I didn't think of...

    Hand held bag attachment

Sorry Madman I thought you or someone was interested at $50 but it did not sell. I didn't bid at $50. When I saw it relisted at a $40 buy it now, I did it. Just to let you know, the box is pretty much mold infested but can be cleaned since the inside is not paper but some type of fabric. The...

    Hand held bag attachment

follow up Yes, it is a Cadillac handheld....I own an older Cadillac (car) and bought it for that reason....doesn't really fit the rest of my collection. The bag and vac are in great shape...I will try to remove the wire or, maybe, I can simply twist the bag around without doing anything. Not...

    Hand held bag attachment

I recently picked up a handheld....the pin that aligns with the twist on bag is on the bottom of the "spout"....if you twist on the bag, it is upside down. I need to turn the metal fixture on the bag 180 degrees. My question: how does the bag attach to the metal part ? It seems that it is sewn...
