    Typewriters thread

SCM stood for Smith Corona Marchant.   Smith Corona bought the Marchant Calculating Machine Co. in 1958 and added it to their name.

    1950s blender.

I see you got the ice crusher and some mini jars. The Oster base and blades fit all standard canning jars, at least the N.American ones .  Long long ago there was a centrifugal juicer attachment as well... I have a pic of it somewhere

    1950s blender.

I think the Waring rocket ship blender is one of the coolest and they still make them, or at least they did up until not too long ago.

    1950s blender.

I don't think I've ever seen a vintage blender with a cloth covered cord... none of mine have. . Cloth covered cords were used more with small appliances that heated, like toasters and irons.

Finally got my GE Stereo moved..

This was at the curb two days ago not far from our house. I took a pic but resisted getting out and looking inside. It's gone now. Had it been a good example of Danish Modern there'd have been no holding me back.

    Hoover Skillet

I have numerous including a Hoover Tri-Pan fry pan I got at Toms back in 08 but that one I have never used,, keeping it clean. We used to use them frequently but not so much this year.. Hot summers which this was not I'd put them out on the back deck to save heating up the kitchen and the a/c load.

    Ever Seen a Green Piano?

Irene Besse closed... what a shame but then there really isn't the market for home piano and even less organs anymore. The last remaining piano/organ store here in Sarnia is set to close in a couple of months as well. When we lived in Calgary the first time I went to Irene Besse I got talking to...

    Ever Seen a Green Piano?

Nice job. I'd guess that every kindergarten classroom let alone school in Canada had a Heintzman piano or two or three in it back in my day. Mine did as did the school my mom taught at. Have you been to the Canto's Music Museum on 11th Ave yet.. or Irene Besse's store One thing I always...

    Raccoons In The Attic!

Wow that's some hole. How in the heck did they manage that. We've got lots of them in our neighborhood as well. Last summer one was sitting on the chimney top then disappeared down it for a bit and came back up.. I'd already had chicken wire covering it but the buggers are smart and removed it.

    Difference Between Buick and Cadillac?

Spot on Chad. I'll have to read that book. There was a lot of marketing genius at play. I never quite understood the dealership though.. They always seemed to be Chev/Olds or Pontiac/Buick dealership arrangement both might also sell Cadillacs.. You never saw or I never did anyways a...

Have You Ever Used A Typewriter?

I have a few vintage typewriters both manual and electric but this one is my favorite being the first electric portable on the market back in 1957. I imagine it was pretty pricey at the time. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
