Running a 120v AC vacuum from 12v DC

Perhaps when Electric Cars take off (and we have more than four charging-points in the UK) you'll see rows of new shiny Teslas recharging - and Alan cleaning his old beat up car with a full-sized Kirby connected to their charging sockets 😊

Running a 120v AC vacuum from 12v DC

Thanks Fan-of-fans! I feel REALLY gullible now 😀 I guess I've been lucky and selective, in those I've watched - 'til now.

Running a 120v AC vacuum from 12v DC

Thanks Huskyvacs, I figured he didn't know a great deal, when he says he doesn't understand why it works in the same direction when he switches polarity. I can't practically run an extension cord from home to car. So I was thinking of an Inverter and a USA 120v vac. Like a Royal 501. Presuming...

Running a 120v AC vacuum from 12v DC

Hi Aaron, If they're unmodified, yes. But did you watch his video? He uses no Inverter. Just a standard Car Battery to run a simply-modified Eureka. Alan n.b. I couldn't get a cut 'n' paste link to work. You'll need to find his YouTube video by Title or Author.

Running a 120v AC vacuum from 12v DC

I've just stumbled upon this YouTube video, where a 120v vacuum cleaner motor is simply converted to run from a car battery. YouTube Guillermo J Garzon "How to make 120 volts vacuum motor work on 12 volts dc" Does this mean we can convert our favourite vacuums to run from a car cigarette...

    Kirby Avalir fabric Case/Tote/Caddy

You're right. Colour co-coordinated would have been a nice touch. I presume they've sourced a generic holdall manufacturer and just had their logo added post-production? Perhaps thinking Black will go with future models too? If it was newly designed and purpose-made, it would surely have been...

Hoover model 65 original outer bag

I too would replace the zip. Or have a dry-cleaners/alterations-tailor replace it for you. It'd be a good idea to source a replacement zip first. The correct size, colour, quality... so they don't fit an inferior one. If your zip is intact but not meshing, i.e. the teeth are open in front and...

    Kirby Avalir fabric Case/Tote/Caddy

Hi Les, I couldn't receive personal calls at my Client's offices during office-hours. It looks unprofessional. As I was on the phone already, I think that was their opportunity to handle my Sales Enquiry. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned? A Kangaroo-Keeper or Shoe-Storage hanging thingy would do, I...

Where to find GENUINE Dyson DC07 Animal hose?

As an interim solution, can you cut your hose at that point, and re-insert it into the collar? It looks as though you'd only lose 2" of hose at most.

    Kirby Avalir fabric Case/Tote/Caddy

Contacting Kirby It was quite an ordeal trying to contact Kirby here in the UK, using their "Ask Our Team" link. They want your life story (every field is mandatory) and they won't respond. I called them. Kirby said I should call Prime. Gave me Prime's number. Then hung-up. Prime wouldn't...

    Kirby Avalir fabric Case/Tote/Caddy

Thank-you so much! You've saved me a lot of grief. When they're packed-out with cardboard for the photoshoot, they appear sturdy, and look tidy, with matching Kirby logo. I suspected Kirby hadn't learned from previous design mistakes; hose half in, tubes strapped to the outside... but I was...

    variety for your cleaning

Yep. I have one vacuum in each bedroom, each left out on display, one for the lounge & hall, the showpeice, and the floor-polisher in the kitchen. So it doesn't look like a vacuum cleaner factory in any one place, they all get seen, and used in-turn. It used to be considered good etiquette to...

    KIRBY ULTIMATE G7E

Hi Walter, You said remove it for cleaning, then replace it. If you intend to replace the same cleaned, worn, roller; you can adjust your brushroll height to compensate for bristle wear. Either by turning the screw at each end of the roller (if you have screws), or by rotating the...

    Kirby Avalir fabric Case/Tote/Caddy

Hello everyone, I've seen photos of an improved Case/Tote/Caddy for storing Kirby Avalir tools. In one photo I've seen, these have straps and compartments for the various attachments. I'm hoping to be able to buy the bag separately, but I can't find it listed anywhere. Does anyone know if...

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

Funny you should say that, I was fascinated with ours too! As a boy, I wanted to "play" at polishing with it. And if someone else was using it, I wanted to ride on it. It looked, and sounded, so futuristic.

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

Ah, yes, that's the one! It had two (or maybe three) interchangeable brushes.

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

And we have pokey little houses. No pools. No basements. Garages so small, you can't fit a car in them. It rains all the time. You'll never see a Policeman. Or a phonebox. Three weeks to see a Doctor. No Royal vacuums. No vacuum shops. No floor wax. Shops closed-down. High Streets empty...

    Johnson Wax Polisher & Beautiflor

That looks like a fairly old tin of Polish. Can you still buy that sort today? Or paste waxes? Here in the UK, they've virtually banned all proper floor waxes (except for commercial use) because we can't be trusted not to slip and to end up in Hospital A&E. Ironically, they use Commercial...

    Royal Dirt Devil Hand Vacs.

Store it somewhere warm, but not hot, until you're sure its completely dry - such as an airing cupboard. Suspend it as straight as possible, so that air can get to the centre section. If its nearly dry, attach it to your vacuum and let air run through it. That won't damage your motor.

    Royal Model 2075

Ugly? Nah. It's lovely. I wish we had Royal vacs here in the UK. I know what you mean by "Industrial Looking", but that's their appeal. They have that 'Made for purpose' look. Not that modern encase-it-in-platic, ergonomic, rectangular design. Also on the plus side, like the Kirbys, they're...
