the 7500 is the best 'basic' one, but you can find it for $100 cheaper at Costco off and on thru the year. I've had mine since 1998, I got a new model 4 years ago as a wedding gift but I didn't go the way of the electronics/bluetooth options. I think they are overpriced options.

if you turn the Kirby upside down, looking at the brushroll fiber against the metal head bottle plate.....if the bristles protrude at least 1/16th of an inch, ( on whichever brushroll height is set) then its okay. 1/16th protrusion is the minimum length recommended by Kirby..

betam64 Good for you and congrats!!! the shipping killed my shopping there. If I'd been only 35 miles away I would have cleaned up similar to your take. I wanted several Royals, one Hoover, some compacts and some kirby accessories.

I agree on considering a Rainbow...but they aren't good for quick pickups. From lots of testimonies and other stuff I"ve read on the SRX......uh, not impressive.

electroluxxxx one factor that needs to be taken in consideration when considering a Miele canister vs the tristar/compact.....is the absurdly high repair costs ( most likely it will be the electric hose for the Miele...its at least 3 times the cost of compact/tristar hose replacement)

If it weren't for the high shipping costs, I would bought 4-6 of those. I wanted to find a company that could go there and strap them all down on a single pallet for possible big savings in shipping....didn't find one
