Cloth Cord That is really neat. I will probably get around 15 feet of it. What gauge do I need?

Help with a Hoover 105 restoration.

I am restoring my Hoover 105. I removed the motor assembly and discovered the fan spins freely with no noise(the original fan is in pristine condition). However, I only turned it by hand because the last owner had installed a frayed lamp cord. I need rear wheels for the machine as it came with...

    Hoover 105

Wow! Thanks for posting that, John. It's really neat. I used the inflation calculator and the special would cost more than $800 today!

    Hoover 105

Painting I think in the future I will paint the handle, base, and motor cover to be original... I don't really have experience with motors so I am Leary of jumping that far in. And it would be great to see that brochure! Thanks for the info!

    Hoover 105

Today I got a Hoover 105 Special for $5. I would like to clean it up, obviously not to use but I do want it in good order. I know nothing about it except it's a special and it is from 1919. Since it's a special I assume it was rebuilt. It has blue paint on most of it. Would that be the rebuild...

I got one of my dream machines today.

Today I bought an early Kirby Tradition with a metal fan and headlight safety switch for $20. It's in bad shape but won't be any trouble to clean up. Unfortunately, there is the replacement safety switch installed. However, all of the hardware for the headlight switch is still in place...

    Eureka Airspeed Zuum

A couple weeks ago, I was at target and the airspeed zuum caught my eye. It is really neat looking. Well last night, I went and bought myself one. It is an awesome vacuum! There is actually metal in the handle, which was a pleasant surprise. It deep cleans very well and empties easily. The...

    Rainbow Powerhead Bearings..??

Kevin... Try going to ABC vacuum in Glasgow. They could probably hook you up. A man and his wife run it and they're super nice. I've been able to get just about any vacuum part I ever needed there. (Make sure you tell him you're a collector) P.S. I live in Metcalfe County, so we aren't very...

    Who likes Rainbows?

.. The thing that gives rainbow their ability is airflow! I have heard people say before that air flow cleans, not suction. For example, I have an SE with the box style PN and it doesn't have the greatest suction, but I know it is getting my carpet clean because of the huge amount of sand and...

    XXX motor...

I think mine is early, since I'm almost positive this ring bracket is bakelite. I can take a picture and post it tomorrow.

    XXX motor...

.... I just don't see how it will be able to come out. the metal plate between the motor and fan won't clear that bracket. Is there some way to get to the suction end and take the fans off first?
