I wasn't sure if you had figured out your wiring, so I thought you could do some online searches to try to find another model number that matches the S490A and Z457, and maybe one of them would have a wiring diagram posted online.

Regarding the color scheme of the 1978 to 1982 D Series models the 1978 Electrolux Group Annual Report referred to the colors as brick and black.

By the way, someone else seemed to indicate that the S was for silver. Anyway, I doubt that it was just a random letter; it must have stood for some descriptor.

That sounds logical. Typically a letter was added to a model ID when that happened either after the Z or after the number. I have yet to see a ratings plate for either one, but I think it was probably the latter in this case because of the D prefix.

It may be the model 1625. I found no other ads or any illustrations or photos for it and have seen no other reference to a Eureka heavy duty/commercial canister/power team from that period.
