Kirby Score! Woot-Woot (free extra stuff if you want it)

I found this on ebay for $50. It's just like the one I grew up with, only ours had the vinyl armored bag with the logo on the front. So I'm looking for one of those, if anybody sees one. ;) Anyway, same old story- old couple dies, their family gets rid of their old "junk" vacuum. They must...

Yer Killin' Me Awww Maaaaan. There are a couple little beauties on ebay right now. I REALLY shouldn't.  I JUST bought a Kirby Omega, and last month a Kirby Classic III. All I wanted was a vacuum like my mom had when I was a kid. I was never interested in COLLECTING these things!  What...

I wonder how many 1950s housewives loved their vacuum cleaners this much...

Bless Your Hearts.... The reason a person might find household appliances as holiday gifts insulting is because it says, "This is your job, not mine.". We've moved beyond the 50's. Everybody pitches in now. Wives have jobs and husbands vacuum and wash dishes.  Imagine a married lesbian...

Can Your Vacuum Flock a Tree?

Cool Thanks rugmun, er-uh... rugsucker.   HA! I didn't even notice she's flocking that tree in the suck, um,... hole. *snort* Cool bit of history there, caligula. I used to work for a big nursery in Michigan. We used to sell Xmas trees during the winter and had a greenhouse dedicated to...

Finding original bags for 1976 Kirby Classic 3

Is This Close Enough? This old Kirby looks like it's about to sell for about  $6. That bag is pretty close to the Classic III. You could use it until the proper bag turns up on ebay. One just sold on ebay, with a pile of random parts, just 2-3 days ago for about $5. I meant to bid on...

Can Your Vacuum Flock a Tree?

I've Answered My Own Question I just tried to find aerosol cans of flocking, and the first thing that popped up was this flocking kit! It looks like any vacuum with an employable exhaust can do this. Eeeeee!

Can Your Vacuum Flock a Tree?

What is THIS kooky business??? What is that, a Hoover Portable? How does this work?  Can I persuade my Kirby to do this? My friends would laugh themselves into a stupor if they caught me doing this to a Xmas tree (which would make it all worth while).

Oh, I forgot to ask,.... I'm suddenly developing an unexpected interest in those old handhelds with the rolling bristles. I LOVE your new little acquisition! So jealous. Are they belt-driven or,... uhh... suck driven? I'm concerned about buying one, then finding that it needs a belt...

cosmetics You know, you can have your vacuums scanned at auto paint shops and they can match the color precisely.  Some places even sell these custom mixes in disposable aerosol cans, like regular spray paint. Vacuums like that one, that run well but look their age, are perfect candidates...

How The #@&% Do You Get This Kirby Belt Lifter Off???

Thanks Again, Ben. Nice find, but that would put me right back where I started. I've had plenty of fun trying to assemble that #@&% lifter. I am done. This is what I had in mind.... :)

How The #@&% Do You Get This Kirby Belt Lifter Off???

Yes, Bud. Thanks. lol I imagine EVERY model is easier than the Classic III. It's that stupid useless window, sorry, the "Belt-O-Vision", or whatever they called it, that makes it so complicated. I wonder how that even made it into production. There's no light inside the nozzle. It's black as...

How The #@&% Do You Get This Kirby Belt Lifter Off???

Ya Know.... Somebody could have warned me about how difficult it is to change the belt lifter on a Classic III. I'm very mechanically inclined, and have been taking things apart and rebuilding them since I was a child, but THIS frackin' thing! I mean, holy FART. It would take Stephen Hawking...

Kirby Speed Switch Acting Wonky. Please Advise.

~Ben Thanks for the tip. Honestly, the wires were so filthy, I'm not entirely sure what colors I connected. I just randomly touched all the wires together until I found the two than ran it on high. :) I really need to order a new switch. I'm losing Kirby Collector cred for this, I know it. :P

    Kirby Metal Fan Question~

KirbyCollector Well Thomas,..... I don't know. lol Being a sentimental purist, I'll likely buy a metal fan the next time I come across one. Whether or not I'll ever actually bother to install it is uncertain. I'm still recuperating from cleaning & polishing the durn thing. I would like to...
