The front handle screw is totally stripped out, so I don't think I will be replacing the cord anytime soon :-(

I have a Decade 80 (Green) it's a great vac, does an excellent job of cleaning and grooming. I had to buy a replacement outer bag which is gray. The original bag had a rusted zipper on it. I bought new light bulbs for the headlight but only one side works.

Fred, your red Kirby Classic III is absolutely beautiful. There was a red Classic III on my local CraigsList for $25.00, I kept emailing the the seller, to arrange a purchase, but I never got a response. The Kirby Tradition and the Classic III are imho the two prettiest Kirbys.

I do have a small compressor that I use sometimes but it's very noisy and I like the sound of the Kirby much better. I take the computer and Kirby out on the back patio, and clean away, I usually do this every three months. I use the compressor mostly for my typewriters.

I've done it using my Legend II, with the inflator/deflator attachment. I've also used to to blow out the CPU.

I found a couple vacs in the trash a few years ago and as I was taking them my neighbors told me they had a problem with fleas, so I did all my cleaning outside and far away from the house. I washed them with warm water and bleach, and washed the vinyl bags with warm water and Pine Sol.

For uprights it's a tie between my Kirby Tradition and Kirby DS80 and for canisters I would say my Electrlux XXX.

I have a Model XXX, and a Model AE, I think the AE has better suction than the Model XXX, I also have a Olympia One, which I think has better suction than the XXX and the AE.

I have a Kirby Legend II, and it's an awesome vac. I also have a Kirby Tradition with the shake out bag and I don't mind it at all. I shake it all down and empty it out over the outside trash can. As for canisters, I really like my Electrolux Olympia One and AE.

My two all time favorite Kirby models are the Tradition and Classic III.
