The body of the Acrylic is made of acrylic plastic, which is clear so you can see inside of it. It was designed for showing in vac shops to let people see the sealed filtration, and motor and other parts they used.
I don't know for sure who came up with the design, but I do know that the Vortex motor is pictured on the Domel site

And here it is next to my Solaris Electro Plus. You might notice that the Acrylic only goes to 1100 Watts, and the Solaris EP goes all the way to 1200, its because the Solaris EP has the newer Vortex motor, and the Acrylic has the older style motor.
I have a brown Celebrity II Estate with that same hose/switch setup. I had so take the handle end of the hose apart and clean the thing in there that makes the air pressure, but now it works perfectly.
Thats a very classy vacuum. I love how quietly they run, and they're very powerful. I have a similar model with the power nozzle and I really like it. I think you will like yours too.
Although the VCA may have recieved a large amount of old vacuums, asking them to send a vacuum over seas (with pricey shipping) would be a bit unresonable. If you are planning on getting a vac from the US, I can guarantee you that you will at least be paying the shipping. I would encourage...
I would much rather trade something for it. Well by getting rid of he usually means trash, but he also might use the motor out of it in the Sanitaire you see there which is in fr repair(new motor among other things).
