Very true Bill, but also few owners realise that the hose and dust channels also require regularly wiping out to get rid of clogged oils and general muck stuck . Especially from dog hair!

Also, some shake out cloth bags in my experience aren't as thin as disposable fleece/synthetic dust bags so its a no brainer if the shake out bag starts to smell after several months.

If the bag smells spare a thought for the rest of the vacuum. Sounds to me like the dust channel needs a good clean out before the dirt hits the bag.
