Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

Thank you, huskyvacs! My genuine Hoover Style 190 belts arrived earlier than expected, so I installed one and a genuine Hoover HEPA type A bag and took some pics of the final result. This vac runs smooth! I’m very pleased.

Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

@All Thank you, everyone! Yes, I used the Mother’s headlight polishing kit and simply followed the directions on the package. 1. 800 grit + water 2. 1500 grit + water 3. 3000 grit (dry) 4. Polish (applied using buffing ball) 5. Polish using soft microfiber towel. My belts arrive this...

Anyone have this in the bright red color?

Autocorrect strikes again *maroons, not marlins.

Anyone have this in the bright red color?

When I was growing up, my parents had the exact vacuum you ask about. Bright red and everything. They must’ve gotten it from Sam’s club because they love those club warehouses. Since I got used to seeing that one so much, I always assumed that red was the standard color for that vac and that...

    Worst hose you've ever used

For me, this hose takes the cake.

Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

“as it is made of *rubber, not* plastic.” Whoops!

Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

One final note. I did not sand on the decals, as I suspect that doing so would remove them. I simply lightly polished the decals with the buffing wheel, taking care not to remove them. Nor did I sand the bumper, as it is made of plastic. Everywhere else, however, is fair game.

Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

I’ve been restoring a Hoover Elite which I found in the trade-in pile at a local vac shop and decided to try something I often thought of doing but never actually attempted. Using the leftover sandpaper, foam buffing “ball,” and polish from my headlight polishing kit, I attacked the hood of this...

    Oreck Bag Dock Required

Hi all, Is the CC bag dock required to use the latest CC Oreck bags? I’d like to use the pink HEPA Oreck CC bags in a commercial unit, but would like to know if I need to get the bag dock first. It seems like the bags might blow off the outlet without the dock. Thanks.

    My Sebo cleaning trio

That is a superb cleaning trio. I own only the X7, and have nothing but great things to say about it. Next in line for me is an E3 Premium. Someday... https://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREADM.cgi?38265_20

    Incinerating vacuum?

Cool idea, but I think dirt is mostly non-combustible. If such a vacuum existed, I think you’d have to empty it close to as often as you would a non-incinerator. The fibers could likely be burned up, but not the gritty particles.

    Toy Dyson DC07 low reach

I bought it used in January of this year. Really, it needed no work; just a good cleaning. I’d been wanting to add a DC07 to my collection for a while, but was holding out for a good, low-mileage one. That one fit the bill. Luckily, it’s a late DC07, so it has the most updated cyclone design...

Hoover Portapower Commercial found...and returned to service!

Today I was greeted with an email from Opa containing the following photo. Turns out he broke out the Portapower to clean the floor of his plane while it’s apart for its annual.

    Toy Dyson DC07 low reach

I don’t have the toy, but I do have a late model full-size DC07 in the same livery. It’s a great vac!

    Need Some Hoover Elites Identified

While not identical to the one you showed, here’s a dark blue donor Elite I bought to part out for my Hoover Sprint. Model number below.

Miele S7 or U1 Parts Needed or Motor Help?

If it were me, I’d just replace the thyristor...and I’m an engineer. Those components are very inexpensive to source, so what’s the harm in trying? Madman’s right; if you get the same part number, you’re good to go.

    Why I like Dyson

My DC07 has a lot of power, and it shows. It extracts plenty of sand from my carpets. The same goes for my UP13, UP14’s, and UP20.

    Quietest Vacuum

Quietest: Miele S8 Loudest: Eureka Precision (Bravo rebadge). Yes, this is the loudest I’ve ever had, and I do own a 10 amp Commercial Royal.
