I am in agreement with Tom Air-Way, and Filter Queen have great straight suction rug nozzles. Rexair (Rainbow) had an awesome straight suction nozzle, as did the Hoover Portable (suitcase model).

A clog would be my thought too. Other thought is that the Fantom was not well know for durability.
