What vacuum do you recommend for the car?

Oreck has some cool portable units that plug in to the wall. Small enough to fit in the trunk, should you choose. BB1000 series (BB1100 or BB1200) is nice as long as you keep a good bag in it. It does have a HEPA filter on the exhaust for inside the house - not so necessary outside. It can also...

    Fantom Fury overheating very quickly

Watched the vid - motor sounds great winding down. That seems more of a wiring issue. Likely a very simple fix. Good luck sorting it out, and good luck on the interview! PS ~ assuming you get the job - as we are - can we use your Target discount? I mean, we're all family here, eh...

Roller and Light Bulb for SuperVac 180

Any chance you would pull that roller out and get a pic or two of what you're dealing with? It may save, or bring you, a thousand words ~ Cool vac, btw

    Shipping a Convertible: Help!

We ship a bunch of vacs. There is no way to guarantee that your vac will arrive without damage in spite of all of your efforts. That said, you'll want at least one inch of cushion around everything; individual items within the box, as well as between the item and the box itself. Wrap...

    people are so wastefull!!!

We toss "perfectly good" vacs any time a customer brings in a unit and mentions certain key words, "fleas" being fairly common (sometimes even from homes without pets!) I had a lady bring a vac in recently stating that her home had just been treated for some type of infectious/toxic mold, but...

    New Oreck Cordless

No "bare floor" tool with this one, and you likely wouldn't want one after you tried one on it. Due to it's overall design, those tools are not effective. Rather, this one has two different brushes on the brushroller itself; longer ones for bare floor (these are softer if I recall correctly)...

    Hoover Encore Motor Bearing

I was joking about the WD40 thing ... kinda Do much reading on here and you see how passionate people are and how happy it seems to make us to share opinions on a variety of subjects, including grease/lube/oil in all it's varieties. I find it interesting and entertaining ~

Need something to keep Kirby from picking up runner.

Double-sided tape, under the rug of course

    Hoover Encore Motor Bearing

Turn it on, stand back, and start spraying WD40 until the can runs out or it shuts up. You could also take it apart and try the "right" way, but this might be more fun. Taking apart a bad bearing to attempt to fix it will not likely cause any further damage ... can't break it if it's already...

    Compact C9 filter cap

That filter was to help catch carbon dust from the motor brushes. It helped, but did not eliminate it. Filter Fresh (HEPA) is best for filtration, but remember to change it! Many vacuums suffer a little suction loss when you pop a filter on it's exhaust, especially if the user does not replace...

    Oreck Fan/Housing Replacement Procedure

This one is easy; don't overcomplicate it. The metal disc can get wedged in tight. We have a semi-circular tool designed to separate the two, but you can also use a pry tool, or just knock it with the back of your hand (carefully). It will separate. Once the motor and fan assembly is...

Miele S8 blowing air out cord

I would certainly bring it back after reading that. Wrong part and poor installation. Miele only has a few cord options for their reels and each looks identical save for those three feet you refer to. (Smaller units get the shorter cords, your reel can handle the longest.) I should also...

    New Oreck XL2100RHS

$199 is regular retail for this model, but without it’s one year manufacturers warranty. Buy from an authorized reseller only (preferably a local store;) or any future warranty claims will not be approved. A receipt will be necessary, and “they” do check now ~

Miele S8 blowing air out cord

Very true that the entire cord should be replaced. Hopefully that was done. That said, these aren’t impossible to work on IF you have the ability to take things apart and put them back together properly AND the tools to do so. Hopefully they didn’t actually leave a part out when reassembling...

    Baking soda

I help folks with this daily. I noticed you own a couple Oreck's and presume you've been to a retail store. If not, please find the nearest (or go online) and get "No Return" Vomit, urine, feces or blood, plus wine, permanent marker, grass stains, all gone. It also has the enzymes needed to...

Price comparison between the Miele's and the Shop-vac's

It's all about using the proper tool for the job; choice of tools is yours. I had a dear friend who would lift up most items, then proceed to use a garden hose with a sprayer to clean his floors. The floors were sloped concrete and the home was laid out shotgun style, so apparently the water...

    paint off?

Oh my! I wish I could reach through the screen to help here ... or at least to smack the hand holding that sandpaper ;) Best of luck with your project ~

    Baking soda

More to the point: why are you doing this? If it’s a spill and you must, then by all means clean up the mess immediately. I hate messes. You may then need to follow the advice about changing the bag and/or cleaning filter(s) mentioned above. In general, all vacs will suffer with any long term...

    Which One Is Better

This is an interesting question to me. Perhaps I don't understand the notion of not keeping them both, and even getting another. Those are so tiny, they take up no space. They can't be worth a ton, so it can't be for the money. Is someone putting you up to this? If you have to hide them...

    learned something new today

Not sure about the answer, but I do have a question. How did you go about searching for members by state? I was wondering about locating Louisiana folks on here, jus’ ‘cause. Trying the search bar yielded little info. ~
