Hoover Concept One

It's really sad that such a nice vacuum is no longer rem That's because the company that made it no longer exists. Does anybody know when the patent will expire? I'm hopeful Cleveland Wood Products does come up with a generic brushroll when it does. I know the Celebrity uses the same one...

    Black and Decker Flex

I too think a corded model is the way to go, or at the very least offer both for customers who INSIST on a cord. For a long time now, Black & Decker wanted to be the innovator of everything cordless, it just isn't practical in some applications (like a cordless lawn mower). Also, they tend to...

    vintage Oreck

I actually worked for Oreck, and spoke with David's son, Tom (now CEO) in New Orleans a few years ago about the early years of Oreck. His father, David, took over Whirlpool's failing vacuum cleaner line in 1962. The machine David Oreck originally designed bore the Whirlpool name (I have a...

    Bisons?????

I never actually used my Centurion for cleaning, I was afraid of snapping the plastic drive shaft in the front nozzle. Some parts of the machine (like the plastic motor housing) were made unnecessary flimsy. My question is, were the Mark III and Centurion the only models Bison made? Were...

Polished And Shined Kirby Heritage (pics inside)

Yes, you're right about the Heritage II being powerful. Still, I have to laugh when I watch this video. Shame they had to ruin a '72 bug though....

    1967 kirby Dual sanitronic 50

I'll bet she was thinking.... "It's 1967 and I'm vacuuming my rugs with a brand new vacuum cleaner that looks as though it's 20 years old!" lol

    The commercial Kirbys

American Lincoln Super Sweep I have the American Lincoln Super Sweep in olive green. My father picked it up in the trash around 1986. It needed a front nozzle plug (which he was able to get). My guess is they switched to red, white and blue for the Bicentennial? - Karl

    What is the WROST vacuum?

That would have to be a Regina Housekeeper. Everything about it screamed cheap and flimsy....

    Home from the spa.....

Glad I could be of assistance. I have that same canister. Oreck had a commercial machine called the "Bigfoot" that was the same color orange and used the same power nozzle. A good machine (so I've been told) that was replaced by the Dual Stack. Now the Dual Stack has been replaced by the...

    Home from the spa.....

Oreck Canister That was actually the predecessor to the DutchTech. That's either a 1500 or 3500 Celoc canister with the CAP-175 power nozzle. The full bag indicator is called the "power eye." I think Oreck discontinued the bags for this model. Is that a Hoover Innovation I see in the same...

    Kirby 513 Changes

Keep in mind Kirby also did a fair amount of that as well. They'd restore a bunch of machines at once, and during the buffing process, swap out parts. They real shame is that many original black duvetyne bags were lost this way, as were builder's plates. I don't see as how a mom and pop...

    My Hoover 28

G.E. Monitor Top Love the fridge! It looks as though yours has the scuff guards to prevent the feet from scratching the floor. Does yours work? I'm trying to find a relay for mine. There was a gentleman named Mike Arnold who passed away about 3 years ago who seemed to be the only one who...

    My Hoover 28

By any chance, would that refrigerator in the background be a G.E. Monitor Top? ;-) - Karl

    Favorite metal body Electrolux

How about the one that started it all? I'll take a Lux model V with detatchable runners. If you're gonna dream, might as well dream big right? ;-)

    WOW!!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For someone with disposable income, the sky's the limit. It's a nice machine, don't get me wrong, but it's still JUST A CONVERTIBLE! The only machine I could see spending that much on NIB would MAYBE be an Innovation. Just my 2 cents.

Are any Hoovers MAade in the USA anymore?

It really IS a shame what has happened over the last 20-25 years. The vacuum cleaner industry wants you to believe bagless is better. What most people don't realize is when they purchase a cheapie bagless (i.e. Dirt Devil) these vacuums have filters that have to be replaced every six months or...

Are any Hoovers MAade in the USA anymore?

"Peoples' expectations of appliances are much less than they were decades ago." Because, except for a handful of manufacturers everything today is made of poor quality. Appliances, automobiles, electronics and everything else is made to be disposable, and I for one think it's disgraceful. We...

Are any Hoovers MAade in the USA anymore?

Perhaps you could paraphrase some of it here for those of us not fortunate enough to own a copy....

Are any Hoovers MAade in the USA anymore?

Some new Oreck models (i.e. the Edge) are now made in China as well. They have a relatively new line of commercial models that look like Sanitaires but are made in China as well. As for Hoover, well IMHO, it would have been better for them to go out of business completely than have their name...

    "new" hoover D-A-M

Not all non power drive models had the T. It was something they started doing from 1970-on. The Dial-A-Matic first came out in 1963. That orange non power drive model sounds like an 1120 from 1968. It did not have the T.
