Now THIS might go for $500.00.......

Buy the way. If you get that Hoover model 26, will you be posting photos of it here? I'd love to see it after you've had a chance to clean it up a bit and address the incorrect bag issue.

Now THIS might go for $500.00.......

Not quite. The first listing with a minimum starting bid of thirty dollars ran its course with no bids. Then it was relisted with a reduced minimum bid of twenty dollars. Then it was ended early because the item was no longer available for sale.

Now THIS might go for $500.00.......

"Now THIS might go for $500.00......." Or maybe the auction will end without anyone even bothering to place the thirty dollar minimum bid. :-)

Here's another eBay seller with big dollar signs dancing in front of his eyes...

They're just clueless, that's all. There're a lot folks out there that think anything "antique" is worth a lot of money. Then there's the other crowd that thinks anything "old" is junk and should be thrown away. Both groups give me a headache.

    antique vacuum for sale

Bobby Enough already. Everyone likes the pictures of the vintage vacuums you've been posting, but your asking prices are outrageously unrealistic. Spend some time searching through the archives here and you'll find lots of discussions about vintage vacuums people found here and there and the...

    Hoover Model 28

Bobby, you need to spend some time on eBay and Craigslist. That way you can get a better idea what these machines are actually worth. If you'd like a hint, there's a guy out here in the L.A. area that's been trying to sell a really nice Hoover model 26 for about a year with no takers, and he's...

    Hoover 500 on Craigslist

Well, first off it's a model 300. You may have inadvertently hit the wrong key there when typing out your thread title. The 300 was a mid thirties model, so to find one in this condition and this complete for twenty dollars strikes me as a bargain, even if it does have the wrong bag attached...

    A very nice model 33

Hi Brad I wish I could make the video you requested, but to be honest I wouldn't have a clue where to begin. I'm not all that computer savy. I do have a few friends that might be able to talk me through it though, so I'll go ahead and at least ask. Sorry.

    A very nice model 33

Thanks Brian. Finding a machine that still had its original hoses(and in excellent shape) was quite a stroke of luck. Especially since I'm not really happy with the quality of the aftermarket hoses, or the fact that they can't be found with the proper colored end fittings to match a model 33 or...

    A very nice model 33

Here's a better view of the canister. It showed little evidence of use and really cleaned up well. There was one thing about it that was a bit odd though. I found a hard white scented pellet about an inch in diameter and about a half inch thick under the cap at the top of the motor housing. I...

    A very nice model 33

And so does the powered hose.

    A very nice model 33

The non powered hose looks as though it's seen little use.

    A very nice model 33

The power nozzle had a great many bumps and scrapes from use, but it cleaned up really well.

    A very nice model 33

I picked up this very nice model 33 a few weeks ago and gave it a good going through before giving it to my parents for Christmas yesterday. They have a model 31 that they purchased new in 1975, but as they're getting on in years, carrying it up and down the stairs is becoming problematic. So...

    POWER TOOLS FOR WET-SANDING KIRBYS

The gray sandpaper made for wet sanding comes in a number of coarser grits that are made for removing material. The main advantage of wet sanding is that the water caries away the particles removed by the sanding process and prevents them from loading up the paper and making it useless. And it...

    Rebuilt Vintage 505 Kirby ...$2658.00 ( ebay)

Here's a link to the listing. At least I think it is. The asking price is lowered to $2500.00 and the shipping is free, but how many restored 505's can there be on eBay at any one time? The fact that there are twenty six watchers likely means twenty six people are curious to see if it sells. But...

    Electrolux Model L slowing down???

If the motor was out of balance it would begin to vibrate as soon as it was spooled up. I still believe the fact that the vibration begins after it's been running for a bit indicates a failed bearing.

    Electrolux Model L slowing down???

I'm no expert on Electrolux machines, but the buzzing and slowing you're describing could be chatter from a failed bearing. As the bearing chatters it's harder for the motor to rotate so it slows down. Of course this is pure speculation on my part. You should be able confirm the cause of this by...

    Favorite type of vacuum?

It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm just going to vacuum the carpets I'll use an upright. If I'm doing floors, upholstery, curtains, etc...., then I'll use the Filter Queen canister with all of it's fun filled attachment.

    Bearings and motor brushes

A quick note The shop owners hand writing is a little hard to read, so that last part number could be GR-3304C.
