BRAND NEW IN BOX Electrolux Commemorative Edition for sale!!!

The market isn't big... I'm not a collector.  So what do I know, right?   But as a non collector I can tell you the ONLY people who would pay a premium for that are other collectors, which in the case of vacuum cleaners probably numbers in the hundreds or single digit thousands.    Then...

Which modern (last 20 years) Kirby should you buy?

I like this Kirby... ...but it's not worth what some pay for it. Don't get me wrong, I think I got a deal, but I'm not sure how I would have felt if someone had tried to sell it me for $1200.     If new, I'd probably go as high as $800, only because craptastic plastic Dysons sell in that...

BRAND NEW IN BOX Electrolux Commemorative Edition for sale!!!

I am huge fan of old Electrolux vacuums.  But my fandom ends at a fraction of that price.  With that said, I'm not a collector, so what do I know.     Good luck!

Potential New Kirby Vacuum Model Discussion

The problem with going to the Kirby Service Center, at least in my area, is they do not sell direct to the public.  They are the level 1 dealer in the MLM.  They get their units at factory pricing.  In my area their building is not open to the public.  I imagine they have a warehouse because...

Potential New Kirby Vacuum Model Discussion

Having more direct manufacturing dealers would be the best change to the sales model. As I understand it, it's an MLM with a few layers, all wanting to make money.     Give a dealer an area, give them factory pricing, and market the vacuum in their area.     I don't know how many layers...

Potential New Kirby Vacuum Model Discussion

I really like Kirby vacuums, but I like them because they don't make big changes.  I like the classic design.    What do you guys want them to do?  Do you want a stronger motor?  Different brush, or different tools?   Do you want a lighter or heavier machine?  Do you want more metal or more...

Which modern (last 20 years) Kirby should you buy?

@huskyvacs   Thanks for the info.  Honestly, I'm my own electrician, plumber, carpenter, mechanic, gunsmith, and appliance repairman.   Not because I can't afford to hire it out, but because I enjoy it.  It gives me a lot of satisfaction to take on challenges and see them through to...

Some old vacuums, and people too.

The aqua TriStar C-6 on the wall... ...it looks like it has matching power nozzle behind it?  If that is what it, does anyone have a picture of one?

Which modern (last 20 years) Kirby should you buy?

Kirby Rebuild Center? I get a lot of satisfaction from fixing and restoring things.  I'm the same way with cars and motorcycles.  So, sending something off to be rebuilt or restored by someone else isn't something I would do.  But just out of curiosity how much does Kirby charge for this service?

Here is my junior 1334 1958.

Is the motor original?  Do you have any pictures of it?

Here is my junior 1334 1958.

Very nice unit.  It screams It looks almost new, straight from the era of Rockers and Mods!  It's cool that you have the box and owners manual.  How much work have you had to do to it?

Which modern (last 20 years) Kirby should you buy?

Oh, this machine isn't new. I've no idea how old it is, but I Googled it and apparently the Avalir was sold between 2014-2018.  From the looks of this unit I think it was sold closer to 2014 than 2018.      I haven't dug into it, but I'm guessing it's never been serviced.  There is a...

Which modern (last 20 years) Kirby should you buy?

I just picked up an Avalir,,, ...which I intend to take apart and completely refurbish and polish.    I may not like Kirby at $1200, or their sales tactics.  But for less then the price of a cheap plastic vacuum, I don't think you can beat them in value when purchased used.  After a...

Which modern (last 20 years) Kirby should you buy?

Not a collector, but I want a used Kirby upright to replace a long line of Dysons.  Are there any years to avoid?  Are there any years which stand out as better than others?     From my limited knowledge it appears the design really hasn't changed that much.  But are there tweaks that I...

    Electrolux Grand Marquis

Old metal body Electrolux vacuums are my favorite as well.    Primarily because they just work reliably, and if they do break them they're easy to fix.  Next to Electrolux my new favorite are old TriStars (C-6, CXL, and DXL), primarily because of their classic mid-century look, and even...

    Electrolux 1205 Motor (pictures)--what iteration?

So there is never a good reason to throw away a motor. I got this old Electrolux 1205 motor for an education.  And an education is what I've got.  I have the motor disassembled and I am currently refurbishing it.    Refurbishing an electric motor is not only possible, it's not really that...

    My 375

The coolest thing about the internet are forums like this one.  It doesn't really matter where in the world you are, you can find people to discuss any subject, hobby, or interest.  Physical distance doesn't matter.     That's a very cool looking hoover, it looks brand new.

    My 375

Voltage and amperage are two measures of electrical current or flow of electrons.   Amperage is a measure of the volume of electrons. Voltage is a measure of the pressure that allows electrons to flow.   1,000 volts is no more deadly than a current at 100 volts, but a change in amperage can...

    My 375

The only difference is the motor and plug. They use copper wire in the UK just like the US.  The difference is the way the electric motors are wired.  If I use my US vacuum in the UK I have to use a step down transformer, or my motor will burn up.   But the cord itself would be fine.    ...
