    Witchita Appliance Store......

Frigidaire/Hotpoint Rivalry: "I bet that made for some fancy sales talk!" I bet it also made for some extremely polite salesmen, too. The slightest customer irritation, and you could literally watch your sale walk out your door - and into someone else's.

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

Great Progress! It looks like things are proceeding pretty well; thanks so much for the update and the new photos. I not only like the tile, it'll protect those precious heating elements from Helen Lawson's stilettos!

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

You Tell Greg: He is one lucky cuss! I have eight complete places of the stuff now, but the tab was a leetle bit more than $36. I wish I could nab some serving pieces here locally - getting those off eBay is no bargain because of the shipping cost.

Fred: Have a great time in Omaha, and tell Greg I said hi! I'll be waiting breathlessly to see what the next installment of photos brings.

Tarantula Arms Is Getting A Facelift

Update? Considering that this is the most comprehensive makeover since Helen Lawson's third facelift, I wonder if there's any new news on what's going on?

    Question About Washers/Dryers

Get Yourself Over.... To www.automaticwasher.org , a sister site to this one. The folks over there know every make, every model, every quirk and every limitation. You're in NYC - if you've ever seen a bunch of Hasidic rabbis argue the Talmud, you have a dim idea of how passionate...

A deep cleaner tool for sofa its fit on Shop-Vac?

Heartbreaking, But.... As much as I loved my Kenmore Power Spray, there came a time when there were just no more parts, and no more resuscitation measures possible. I got a Bissell ProHeat 2X, and it turned out to be a much better cleaner anyway. The optional attachment set available direct...

Fred: What's that going over the greenboard - fiberglass-reinforced plastic board or cementitious board (like Hardiboard)?

    Electrolux 1205 questions

P.S., Will: Vac shops also often have PN-1s sitting around. The all-turquoise model is the correct one for an early 1205. You may also see a white PN-1 with turquoise trim; this was for the first Model L and some other white/turquoise machines.

    Electrolux 1205 questions

Will: The dusting brush you have is the one that came with the first version of the Model L, as well as some other machines that came with an off-white body and turquoise trim. It will work perfectly well with your 1205 even if it's not the same brush that came with 1205s. The eBay set is at...

Here's.... ....A complete set of 1205 tools, less the wands, on eBay at a very reasonable Buy It Now price: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Green-Vintage-Electrolux-vacuum-tools-floor-carpet-brush-dusting-crevice-/350876202231?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51b1d9f4f7 The dusting brush is a...

    Electrolux 1205 questions

Congratulations.... Early 1205s aren't as common as the later ones, so you've got a somewhat uncommon Lux there. The correct PN for your machine is the turquoise PN-1, and the correct tool color for all your tools is turquoise. The rug/floor tool that came with your machine would have had...

    Electrolux 1205 questions

Early Version: Make sure you have the correct hose for the machine; it might be that someone just threw in whatever hose was lying about. An early 1205 will have a little outlet under the suction port for the PN cord to plug into. If you do not see the little outlet, you have a later 1205...

    Lux 1205 Popping Open

Hi: I've had a 1205 for several years that is the best one I've ever had, but it has developed an issue that has me stumped. The bag door is popping open, and I have checked the Automatic Control assembly. All vacuum hoses are intact, correctly hooked up, securely in place, and not clogged...

    Electrolux 1205 questions

Dates: From 1968 until 1973, if memory serves. There are several iterations of the 1205. Early ones used a separate power cord clipped to the hose for the PN; there was a separate electrical port under the suction port for the cord to plug into. There were other minor detail changes, as...

    Hoover Skillet

For Me.... The best electric skillets are the Farberware ones from back in the day, when they were stainless with an aluminum-clad base. I own three of them (the Model 310-B), and I assure you they will all outlast me; they're durable as Sherman tanks. Extremely precise heat control, and...

Well, the first of the cellar dwellers has left the building.

I'm Not Among the Lucky - But if you're selling any late Compacts with PNs or TriStars, I'd be very interested in hearing about them; you can email me direct at [email protected] if you like.

    Shark Rocket/ Rocket Pro

Infomercial Says a Little Different: The half-hour infomercial I saw for the Rocket yesterday says that there's a five-year service plan on the unit, with shipping paid both ways. That's IF you buy it through the infomercial, I'll bet. The deal I saw yesterday was 5 payments of $39.95 each...
