Columbus mark III vacuum and polisher find

Awesome!! We don't have anything so ingenious in the States. I love clever "old tech". Especially manufacturers who kept peoples' tight household budgets in mind. Museum quality restoration BTW. Its OK that you collect vacuums. (We at Vacuum Collectors Anonymous are here to help) :)

    Off the cuff

No problem I'm assuming...that the electric version of the hoses Vacuumciti sells come in various lengths, and already have the correct type of electrical connections on them. But you'd need to contact them to make sure. If they don't have electrical connectors on them, you can simply get an...

    Off the cuff

Hey ND, If you're trying to separate the flex hose from the black plastic coupling, then you want to free up the red & blue wire combo from the handle switch console. (I don't know what I'm talking about, but it sounds good). That R/B wire combo ends in a male plug (like a telephone land-line)...

    Off the cuff

Try Youtube There's a few vids on modern vac hose repair/replacement. This screenshot includes the video url at the top. Its not the exact same Kenmore progressive, but they probably used the same connection design for yours.

    Interesting instructions: Singer E-10

In the pictured example they provide, this thicker, stiffer older type of hose uses its end attachments as "feet" resting on the floor, and helping take the weight off the hose. The hose doesn't seem to "hang" from the wall hook, the hook merely keeps the hose standing upright on its own.

    Hose repair

One possible source Hey normadesmond, I'm from Minneapolis FYI You're right about not so old parts quickly going obsolete. That's why most people work on their own stuff. If you're game... There's a distributor of (what they call) vacuum hose varieties. Vacuumland members are experienced pros...

    Are we THERE yet?

Close to home I'm building a small collection of early elec/non-elec vacs; early electric toasters; and, early elec/non-elec mixers. Plus other early electric small appliances. My neighbor saw them and said, "That's CRAZY !" But, I think preserving history is less crazy than letting it all...

    Delco Upright

Is this a new acquisition? Hey Bvac6, I recently saw one of these rare birds on craigslist. There's 2 versions, I believe. A straight rugsucker such as the one pictured, and a belt-driven brushroll model (perhaps a newer innovation?). There's several interesting past posts about Delcos Frank

    First Vacuum Memories?

The "bug" that bit me I found a 1916 Eureka upright in the attic of a duplex The owner gave it to me. I cleaned it, rewired it, and polished it up. Since then I've been hooked on "Old Tech".
