Sean, Don't waste your time trying to repair that machine. No matter how much grease you place on the bearing, it is still going to make noise and be a bad bearing. That machine is just not worth the time, money, or effort. You will easily find another one if you go thrifting often enough.

What Seth said. The only way to repair that is to replace the motor. Unless you are experienced, its a fairly difficult repair.

If you cannot figure out how to remove the shroud, you may want to take the machine to a qualified repairman (if it an important machine). Just be careful with those little motors, they are easy to damage!

Most everyone has the right idea. It is simply two standard sanitaires with an odd ball hood and backing screwed (not bolted) onto two machines. The housings are connected at the base and it is just like pushing two machines at the same time.

Cheaply made- I'd rather use the Bissell Pro Heat because, believe it or not, it is better constructed. Stick with a Hoover or a Royal for an extractor. With those two machines you have two fat girls and you have to choose one to take to prom....

That is a Peanut motor. It is loud and whiny and not the best motor ever. The tube extends the bag housing so it can be used in certain models with the shorter housing. We normally use a nice two stage motor that we drill out to put in those machines. Much better noise level and better...
