    Crazy For Kenmore!!

No Duo Powers This Time Jeff, This past fall village trash pickup netted no Duo Powers. I had been getting at least one a season from that. It would be nice to find more here too. I'm sure they'll turn up as this area is the Kenmore capitol! Kenmore, NY is nearby and maybe has something to do...

    A nice Guardsman and Others

A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I went thrifting. Afterwords was a stop at the local Kirby dealer. I hauled home alot of machines that day and the cream of the crop were a very nice Hoover Guardsman with the paper bag setup, along with a nice metal based Eureka, a Dial-A-Matic and a Kirby...

    Electrolux about 1935

Cords are still available......... There are aftermarket cords still available for these machines. If your vac shop uses ESCO or HESCO for its wholesale supplies, then there should be no problem getting a new one. I just bought a new Lux 30 cord thru HESCO. Great to see an oldie still going. Joe

    GE MV2 Portable Vacuum

I've got a cloth bag......... I have the Premier version and it has the cloth bag. I thought of using Oreck bags, but never tried them. The MV 2 and its Premier twin are really nice mini vacuums. Joe

Why one should never pick up water with a vacuum cleaner...

Roll Pins...... Those little buggers stumped me the first time I tried to work on one of these motors. I still have that broken bearing plate. Joe

Why one should never pick up water with a vacuum cleaner...

Fan Cover Hey Fred, How hard was it to get that fan cover off of that motor? I don't see alot of dents where you have pried. Whenever I work with those motors, there always are alot of pry marks in the cover. Not to mention separating that housing to get at the field coils. In my opinion, one...

Why one should never pick up water with a vacuum cleaner...

Plastic Shells This is one instance where a plastic shelled machine is good. Replace the rusted motor and you have a working machine again. I've had water damaged vacs before and the plastic ones were easily restored. Metal bodied ones, forget it. On the opposite end of this, I had come across...

A Vacuum Mini Meet in Hoover Mecca

Glad You All Had Fun!!!!!! I was thinking of you guys this weekend while I was dealing with the mess Mother Nature gave us in Buffalo. This was my driveway and barns on Friday morning. Snow was knee deep. Didn't mean to hijack the thread this way, but I wanted to say I was wishing I was in...

    Junk Day with a Surprise

Elites Yes, I am hanging on to that Elite. I have a couple of other early ones that don't have the hose port for the tools. I also have the bottom converter and hose for the early Elites. Its scarey to realize that these Elites are pushing 20 years of age. It seems like they just came out. I'm...

    What is this?

I thought they were green........ Got to be a Frankenkirby. The Classic 3 tools add to that. Take a DS80 motor assembly, change the trim and head, you just might come up with that. But.....there always is a possibility of a limited run of something or and export version. Joe

    Vintage Vacuums for cleaning house

I Rotate My Vintage Vacs I usually rotate semi vintage vacuums in regular cleaning service. Semi, means 60's thru 80's vintage. I usually rotate Convertibles and Dial-A-Matics for regular cleaning and occasionally other semi vintage uprights, like Eurekas and my Kirby Classic III. Canisters get...

    Junk Day with a Surprise

It was the fall "large item" trash pickup at a neighboring town. I know the crew that works for the village and they save me all the vacuums that they pick up that are out for junk. This fall I got 20 machines. Mostly all plastic, Dirt Devil things, but there were a few surprises. The best being...
