    WANTED: Kirby

Also if you find a vacuum (or not) it doesn't hurt to ask if they have hoses or attachments in the back. Along with the $25 G4 I also found a box with a Classic III hose and nozzle, I asked if they had anything else the guy was nice and took me in the back and I dug up 4 heritage hoses and some...

Kirby 509- how much are they worth?

I got an email response from an ad I put locally. "Hello, I have Kirby model #509 that was purchased in 1961 (I have a reciept). It's in working condition but the hose is dry. " "It has attachments.Looks like new. Give me an offer." She ended up deciding on a final $ number (but I want to...

I was looking at those exact items, just not sure if I should pull the trigger yet.

Convert Classic III nozzle to Tradition?

I got a Classic III nozzle yesterday in my thrift finds. It is missing the bumper guard but has the red belt lifter with brush intact. I need a nozzle for my Tradition. Does anyone know 100% if I were to buy a new Tradition belt lifter and bumper guard would they fit perfectly?

    Craig_1982's Kirby collection

With the Tradition did you just put the new bag adapter on the old Tradition fill tube or did you put a new larger fill tube? If so did you make it fit onto the old bottom connector or change it to somethine else? (in the picture it looks like you have the sani-emptor, which looks best) ;)

What is the most $$ you've spend buying or rebuilding an old vacuum?

I wish we had a for sale/trade area on the forum. Feel like I'd be cluttering up the place posting wanted ads everywhere. I do have HII parts that I could trade.

Kirby fat nozzle or skinny nozzle, which do you like to USE better?

I do need to check the height of all my vacs, I do have it set for the bristles slightly below the rug plate but just approximate. More than anything I need new carpet. lol

Kirby fat nozzle or skinny nozzle, which do you like to USE better?

Perhaps it's just the thin S***ty OLD carpet in my basement which the underpad has compacted into nothing, but I find the fatter nozzle of my Heritage works better than my Heritage II or G series vacs. It keeps it held down while the newer vacs try to suck up the carpet which is very loud when...

Time for you to start an ebay store, give the man a % of the sales. Let me know if you come up with any Tradition parts (handle or nozzle) lol

What is the most $$ you've spend buying or rebuilding an old vacuum?

"I just looked on you know where in completed listings. Someone, this week, paid $1299.99 for a vintage vacuum cleaner. That is INSANE!" I think spending $1299 on a new Sentria is insane too, considering you can buy them on ebay for less than half or buy a used one, or just get a g6 or...

    Craig_1982's Kirby collection

Nice Collection Craig! While some people may have dozens or hundreds of vacs, even a handful is a nice collection. My wife says I can only keep 5, lucky she has not counted (think I'm around 7 now) 2 questions for you (since we have some of the same machines) Does your Tradition have the...

What is the most $$ you've spend buying or rebuilding an old vacuum?

Well I just picked up a G4 for $25 today (I think it should be fine, just needs a cleaning and polish) which I think is a really good deal, kinda balances out what money I spend on other vacs with this "hobby". I also got the $18 fan assembly into my $20 G3- I plan on selling both these vacs and...

    Kirby hose question

Hmm good to know. I got a chance to rummage in the back room of a thrift store and got a couple hoses- I just picked ones with typical Kirby motor attachment, but wonder now if they had some older ones now. Oh well, doesn't matter since I don't have any old Kirbys anyways.

What is the most $$ you've spend buying or rebuilding an old vacuum?

I see a people on here get great deals on vintage vacuums, some people asking "how much is (insert model here) worth? and many people with great looking machines, some rare others not so rare in their collections. I'm sure there has got to be a number of us who take some piece of junk if given...

what is your favorite vintage vacuum?

At the moment I will say Kirby Tradition, but I'm sure there are other OLDER cooler vacs that I might one day call my favorite. :)

    Tradition Resto Done!

beautiful machine! I am also in the process of restoring a Tradition. It's a long (and expensive) restoration however, since the motor unit and emptor (excluding nozzle) are the only parts I have! Your's looks good though and now you can enjoy it! Do you have the original bag setup or have...

    New to the forum

nice start to your collection! The Heritage II is a nice vacuum. If I were you I would convert it to take the newer paper bags (HEPA bags)all you need to do is change the top bag adapter off the fill tube, you can find them on ebay. That is what I did with my Heritage 84 and will do with my...

    Royal Prince Model 501

That's a nice looking Royal, I would love to get one! The Kirby hand vac looks cheaper than a plastic Dirt Devil. I must say that for 14 you have excellent grammar!
